Re: "Rickenbacker Jangle"
I have a Dano DC-12 (purple sparkle!), and the trick to getting a good tone out of it is to have both pickups on, with the neck pickup tone all the way down, bridge tone and both volumes all the way up. Since Danos are wired in series, there's more output on the two-pickup setting, and turning the n...

Re: YOUR Signature Model
370 double-bound, checkered binding front and back, three hot toaster pickups balanced for volume (no extra-hot neck pickup!), 1-11/16" nut width, 12" fingerboard radius, medium-jumbo frets, switching to select neck, bridge, or both together, with the usual volume and tone controls for eac...

Re: 381 Ruby
Ellen--I had an original '72 381 for a while in the late '80's. I'd wanted one ever since I saw one in the '69 catalog--never saw one for sale until around 1988, so I bought it, and had to do some work on it to get it playable, as the guy I'd gotten it from had .008"-gauge strings on it, and ha...

Sounds like lots of fun, and I really enjoyed the one a few years ago. However, I'll be out of town. Darn.

Re: Way to overlook the obvious GP magazine!!!!
Clint has it pretty close. I participated in several GP shootout reviews in the '90's as a demo guy for Carvin--their artist relations guy at the time was a friend of mine, and apparently it was more cost-effective to hire me, since I lived in the Bay Area anyway, to come to San Francisco, than to f...

Re: Holes
At one time, there was a 12-string Bigsby available--I don't know if they're still available or not. My first name-brand guitar was a '66 Vox Phantom XII with a Bigsby-style vibrato. That thing was a nightmare, both to restring and try to keep in tune--as far as I'm concerned, a vibrato has no place...

Re: Any thoughts on this modification?
AAAaaarggh! My eyes! Seriously, four pickups are a bit overkill. Three is cool, but a lot of the sounds available on a four-pickup guitar are pretty much alike. Although I did try a DiPinto "Los Straitjackets" Model once that had four pickups, and it sounded pretty cool--much better than t...

Re: BARC 2012 Pics
Looks like it was a good party! I was planning to be there, but I had to pick my wife up at the airport that afternoon. Oh, well--I still don't have any Rickenbackers to show off. Maybe next time...

Re: Electro-Harmonix Ravish Sitar
"Hooked On A Feeling"? "Cry Like A Baby"? "Norwegian Wood"? "Paint It Black?" Any number of Philadephia International R&B records from the '70's? It beats having to carry a Coral or Jerry Jones electric sitar to your cover-band gig if you're doing those tu...

Re: What color is my Strat?
As Octagon says, it appears to be Dusty Rose. The Strat Plus came out in '87, although early ones had serial number decals left over from '85. That one's a Strat Plus Deluxe, which came with the Wilkinson roller nut, the locking bridge saddles, and the Sperzel tuners, so those parts are stock. I'm n...

Re: Hofner Senator E1 The Jeff Beck "Blow-Up" guitar
Crazy! I haven't seen that in years. Apparently the director saw Pete Townshend smash a guitar, couldn't get the Who to do the movie, so he hired the Yardbirds to break up a guitar, and Hofner donated the guitars to be smashed! That's quite a period piece--it's from that brief period when Jeff Beck ...

That's a Dano DC-12, from around 2000-2001. I have a purple-sparkle one--pretty nice for the price (I got mine new for around $250).

Re: RickResource Forum Joins Facebook
I joined the RickResource Facebook page the other night, and tonight I wound up opting out of the group. It has nothing to do with anyone on this forum, or Facebook for that matter--I really enjoy this forum and I'm usually on here most evenings, but I found that every time someone posts on the Face...

Re: how you knew you were ready for a 1986 360/12
Hi, Jessica! If you've never played a Rickenbacker, I strongly recommend that you go to the BARC coming up--you'll find players of all levels of skill and styles ranging from open-chord stuff to single string lead and everything in between--lots of Rics to play and lots of nice folks--nobody's there...
