Re: String Advice for My New Rickenbacker

I've used TI, La Bella and D'Addario flats on my 4003. My issues with TI flats (.43-.100) are their price, they weren't well balanced and the really low tension created issues including fret buzz, dead notes, etc. I also didn't like that they were dull/thumpy and took the "growl" out of my...

Re: Case question.

I think the SKBs offer better neck support, but that's just my humble opinion.

Re: Rickenbacker strings

Not sure if it would be cheaper for you being in the U.K., but you can purchase the same set of strings directly from D'Addario as singles. I don't care for the Ric strings because the string tension is way too low and, in turn, exacerbated my saddle click problem. I found I had to go to a higher te...

Re: Lou Barlow's 4001 & His Ric Opinions

It's not important, and it's not even correct, because it suggests that his [Geddy's] assessment and use of Rics should somehow affect ours. I totally disagree with that. I disagree with that because Geddy Lee was the reason I wanted a Ric (I'm certain I'm not the only one), and I bought my first o...

Re: D'addario Chromes Recommendation

Good stuff, guys. I think I'm going for the ECB84s. I'm a little worried about that .65 D string in the ECB81 set; really high tension.

Thanks, Joey. I'm putting them on a 4003.

D'Addario Chromes Recommendation

I'm looking at two sets: the ECB81s (.100-.80-.65-.45) or the ECB84s (.100-.80-.60-.40). Has anyone used these sets and which do you think would be a better choice? Thanks!

Thanks, David. I saw those, but they're a little pricey. I mean, they're beautifully crafted, but I guess I'm just looking for a hunk of rubber that will fit. :)

Soundhole Cover Recommendations

I recently acquired a Martin OMCX1KE acoustic guitar and now I want to get a soundhole cover/feedback buster. Unfortunately, in doing research, it looks like standard soundhole covers fit 3 7/8" to 4" soundholes. My soundhole measures 3 3/4". Does anyone have any suggestions or advice...

Amp Recommendations

I'm looking for recommendations for a compact bass amp that I could use for semi-acoustic gigs. I'm going to be playing with a mellow folk group and I don't want to haul my half stack. Plus, I think my current setup will be overkill for the music and venues we'll be playing. Any recommendations for ...

Re: 2009 4003 w/mods

I like it, but ... is TRC a little bit small? The plexi TRCs are wider and longer than the raised letter ones. Are you referring to how it doesn't sit closer to the nut? Yep, there's a little gap there. Must be the way RIC drilled the bottom holes. I didn't feel like hasseling with sending it back,...
