Re: Stick/gummy finish
I don't know about sticky... But I had 4 Ric's in storage for a couple of years and they seemed to get mildew blobs all over the finish. We have a warm and moist climate here in Brisbane Australia. They have 'sort' of polished out but if you tilt the body in the varying light you can still see the du...

Re: 1966 Liverpool Music store Purchase
10 years late in carrying on the thread... The guy who said the store in Liverpool was Hessy's is right... that name rings a bell. The neck on that vintage 66/67 ( I never recorded the Serial number ..You just didn't back then !) was a LOT slimmer than the 2 x 12's I have now .... Dare I say I don't...

Re: Sawing up a truss rod
The original observation about the rod differential lengths seems to remain unanswered. I have a '67 625 that has had a fair amount of butchering over the years ( NOT ME !) Sorry I haven't been on the site for ages. I thought life was supposed to get easier as you got older... Thanks for the input. No I don't have it anymore.. I sold it in 1972 in Brisbane Australia.. It had signs of a minor crack in the neck just behind the nut. The neck was very very slimline and I w...

Pressed metal truss rod covers?
What is the history of the pressed metal 'Rickenbacker' logo covers. They seem to have been on some of the 58-61 'tulip/horn' bodies and also on some of the early 'cresting waves'... I haven't seen any reference in print to these covers at all.. I suspect they were on the lower range models but ther...

1966 Liverpool Music store Purchase
I was in the British Merchant Navy in 1966 and bought a UK (Rose Morris Spec) 360WB/12 from the main Liverpool town music shop. For my own interest can anyone tell me what the store would have been ? I can remember to this day it cost me UK pounds 212..(No case !!). I was an apprentice ,earning UK 8...
