Re: 4001V63 Beatle bass or Chris Squire Bass?

Ya, what they said. My V63 is a fire-breathing dragon when I want it. BTW, welcome! I have one of each and noticed that on the 4001V63 the neck PU (hi-gain toaster) reads out at 11.5 ohms but on the 4001 CS the neck PU reads out like a '60s vintage toaster at about 6.5 ohms. That's interesting, I d...

Re: Early & pre 1973 cast aluminum saddles

Casting would be the only correct way to go. The early saddle is not so definite in angle/shape as the later Zinc versions because of finishing polishing etc, pick a good one and go for it, don't forget to add 4% to the size of the buck though. As for hole location, leave that to us that are fitting...

Re: Any controversial years of bass manufacturing?

Like Collin said, pick your favorite spec's and then try the bass, ( members will help with detailed info on neck sizing etc once you have picked some years out), sound wise you can't fail with a 64

Re: Rig Rundown - Yes' Chris Squire & Steve Howe

Other interesting fact is that Chris said that the treble pickup has a very low output - it's funny that my old Rickenbacker 4001 Jetglo was like that. MY CS model, however, has a very high output treble pickup. Miguel The low output was probably due to the HS magnets losing power, seem to remember...

Re: Rig Rundown - Yes' Chris Squire & Steve Howe

If it's of any use, the main Superbass controls will work out as 7 3/4 = full on, if of course the 0 is starting at 12 o'clock.

Re: Rig Rundown - Yes' Chris Squire & Steve Howe

Superb, nice to know from Chris that he did actually split the output for the pickups. Interesting on the close up shot of the RM HS, the bobbin doesn't look like a 64, looks to me like a Reissue or a bakelite version?.

Brilliant collection Tony.

On the headstock, I think by 70 they had become the shortest they got and all in 3 years!. (1970 = 8'', 1964 =8 1/2 )
