Re: Guitar ID in aisle 12

Looks like an Ovation Preacher XII. There were other models like the Breadwinner, Deacon & others-some not easy to tell apart from a distance or in the dark.

Re: 330-12 Mod Question...

I would play it as it is. You have a 6 saddle bridge (with 2 string slots on each)-- I'm not sure a 6 string 6 saddle bridge is going to make a very noticeable difference. You have a 12 String R tailpiece--But no need spend about $250 extra for a 6 string R tailpiece & then have to swap it all b...

Re: History Of The Eagles

Schmidt is featured in a few clips playing a 4001 mapleglo & a 3001. A very early clip showed Frey playing a fireglo 360, but I don't recall any showing him playing his signature model.

History Of The Eagles

The History Of The Eagles documentary featured several clips of Joe Walsh doing slide work on a Ric Jetglo 230GF--but none of Glenn Frey playing one.

Re: The Blue Shadows

Their song "Lucky To Me" has always been a longtime favorite of mine--Great vocals & harmonies & perfect Ric 12 sound.

Re: 360 butchered carcass update

Yes I got the original jackplate with it. I probably would have passed on it if it didn't. I have had 2 more opprtunities since Feb. to purchase stripped or damaged Rics but both were missing the jackpates. Plus they were beyond my abilities & budget to refurbish, so I passed on them. Maybe they...

Re: Best Amp for a Rick?

I prefer my Music Man 210 HD 130 best. But my Ampeg VT 40 or the Vox Valvetronix aren't bad either.

Very Cool. I would like to have one like it. Maybe I could stumble across the one you missed back in the late 70s. :D

Re: 480 Vs 620 sound

I think you meant pickups. A lot depends on the pickups. I've seen 480s with regular high gains, toasters, or the wider pickups with 12 holes. The same pickups on both a 620 & 480 might produce a similar sound but the 620 also has the Ric-0-Sound stereo option.

Mid to late 70s Music Man 210 HD 130 is my favorite. Hard to find and usually about $500 when available.

Re: Any fretless Ricks have fret markers?

I have seen only a very few fretless Ric basses that have only the side markers, with no markers actually on the fretboard. Most I have seen have 9 dot markers on the fretboard (2 together on the 12th fret). The only ones I have seen with the arrow/shark fin markers were fretted basses whose frets w...

The Jetglo 360 in the video appears to be the some one he used in the Ringo Starr Off The Record interview.

Re: 1964 F-Hole Non-Rose Morris

Good job getting the black paint residue off the body--I know its not easy. Looks like a like a lot of hard work but it turned out great. Just curious--How can it be determined this was not a Rose Morris issue? Serial # check?
