Shortage of "affordable" 95403 strings

Hi,
I'd like a couple sets of Rickenbacker 95403s for my 360, but everyone is either out of stock or charging high prices esp when you add shipping? Can anybody recommend a good source or an alternative? (Sam Ash seems to have the best price, but they're out of stock at the moment.)

Re: New Ric bass?

I think the JG 4005XC is a work of photoshop, but I agree it looks sharp.

Re: May Be Picking UP a 1985 4001V63 MG Need advice

Judging by his enthusiasm in his posts, I think he wanted to like it....I can certainly relate.

But, I think he got it for @$3K or less and now is trying to sell for $3.5K. His perogative, I guess.

Looks like the person who started this thread about the '85 MG V63 now has it up for sale for $3500. I guess it didn't work out for him afterall.

Re: A bit rough around (some) edges...is this normal?

I'm sorry. I'm a bit confused now. Are you saying you spoke with them, showed them your pictures of your basses (which you said earlier didn't have as extensive orange peel as mine) and they have agreed to fix it? Can you post pictures of what your finish issue looks like? I'd like to know what Ric ...

Re: A bit rough around (some) edges...is this normal?

FWIW, I posted on the RIC bass forum as well and there's been no response.

Re: A bit rough around (some) edges...is this normal?

I posted over on the Ric Forum and while there have been a bunch of views, there are only couple unrelated responses. Not a lot of traffic over there. I posted on TB a while back. Oh well. I'm going to put a treble bezel and a harness from Dane soon so that will most likely void the warranty anyway....

Re: What is UP with ebay -- 4001v63 content

I had a ‘98 V63 and a 4003 and the necks were subtly fatter than the other Rics I’ve owned. Was definitely less comfortable than my other basses and so it didn’t get played often. By comparison, I can’t put my ‘18 40003s down which has me jonesing for another v63. (How does that work?!)

Re: What is UP with ebay -- 4001v63 content

I’m tempted but looks sort of clown bursty and I have concerns about the neck size from ‘98. Wish I could check it out in person.

Re: A bit rough around (some) edges...is this normal?

Good idea. It's a finish flaw for sure especially since the finish is inconsistent on edges, but I can live with it. However, people should look for this issue before they purchase a new Ric. You could post your concerns here and see if John Hall chimes in about this issue. Sometimes he will. http:/...

Re: A bit rough around (some) edges...is this normal?

I’ve decided to let it pass and focus on enjoying the bass. The finish is not flawless but I can overlook it. Not worth it to me to fight Rickenbacker about this.

Re: A bit rough around (some) edges...is this normal?

Finally got a straight answer:

A finish that is not completely smooth around the edges of the instrument would not be considered a factory defect.

Take care,

That about settles it for me.

Re: A bit rough around (some) edges...is this normal?

Have you discussed it with the dealer? Yes, I brought it to the attention of the dealer and he refunded a portion of the price. He said I'd have better luck addressing with Ric than they would. Not sure what that meant. Regardless, I was happy to get some money back to offset the cost of shipping i...

Re: A bit rough around (some) edges...is this normal?

I just have an off-the-shelf Jetglo 4003s. Perhaps I am being too picky and I can definitely live with it. Funny and frustrating though...even though I am asking Rickenbacker very specific questions, they keep coming back with this canned response even after I asked "Hi again, so are you saying...
