Re: Who's still waiting on a 4003S?
That does seem to be a long time to wait these days. I got my Fireglo in 4 days from GC and it was flawless. But I understand some not wanting to take a risk with big box dealers.

Re: Reproduction Pre-1974 Aluminum Tailpiece / Bridge
I'm thinking maybe those brass tubes are there for an optional mute assembly? Maybe they are removable if you would choose not to use the mute?

Re: Tapping on a Ric
Don Schiff does an outstanding job on the NS Stick. Check him out on youtube. I had an NS for about a year, but
it wasn't my cup of tea. I sold it and bought my Rick and I couldn't be happier!

Re: Favorite Bassists
If is was mine I would be practicing scales of over my new Rick! Like a fine Martin acoustic, it will get better with age. And it will become a part of you like another limb! Congrats on the new bass!

Re: Favorite Bassists
Has anyone mentioned Mel Schacher from Grand Funk? The first live album was what made me want to be a bass player. His skills on bass for that time period of the late 60's was great. I still like to listen to that album and play along with tunes like Into the sun, Heartbreaker, Inside looking out, A...

Re: Yesterday got a cool compliment
That is my only service as a musician these days. This weekend i'm playing Saturday night 1 service and 3 on Sunday. And my worship tool is my 2009 4003 Jetglo. That bass cuts through the mix better than any bass I have used, but the Jerry Jones longhorn strung with flats that I used to have could c...

Re: Problems with my Playing Style and the Binding
I think that part of the issue is that you are using a pick. When I use a pick which is rare, I tend to rest my forearm on the edge of the bass. To hold my arm away from the bass when using a pick makes it difficult for me to pick properly, or feel comfortable with my playing. I play 95% fingerstyle...

That is some serious eye candy! What a gorgeous bass! I fell in love with that fretless MG also. Must have been tough to leave those basses behind.

Re: Have you tried Elixer strings
I've been using Elixers on my 4003 for a few months now. They still sound great and I have a set on another bass that have been on close to a year and they still sound and play great.

Re: What strings and picks do you like to use with your Ric?
Currently i'm using Elixers. I liked them on other basses and I like them on the Ric also. They sound great and stay sounding great for a long time. I play fingerstyle 98% of the time, but on occasion I use a medium pick. Not really sure of the brand. I have never been really comfortable playing wit...

Re: Gibson Thunderbird or a holiday....?
I own 2 basses. An 09 jetglo 4003 and an Epi Thunderbird. My favorite is definitely my 4003, but the Thunderbird for the price is a pretty nice bass. I haven't had the chance to play the gibson version, but I've read plenty of reviews that a lot of people prefer the Epi version over the Gibson! When...

Re: DR Strings
Thanks Cassius. Do you know when the Cl set will be in production? Sometimes I like a bit of the growl you get with the rounds. Can you still get similar sounds with the flats on the rick, Or is it always going to be solid fundamentals? I put a set on my churches new precision bass and they got incr...

Re: DR Strings
Hi Cassius, I know you were big on the Fender flats a while back. Now that you have been using them for a while you still liking them? If so, what gauge are you currently using and why?
