Re: Does Anyone Prefer Rounded Horns Over Pointy?
To complicate things a bit...: Some of the Rickenbackers with round horns have round horns which are pointier some years of manufacturing than round horns from other years. And even the pointy ones can be quite round... (George Harrisons first 12 string Rick has quite rounded horns) So the most poin...

Re: Why do Blue Boys turn Green and White Ricks turn Yellow?
Clear finishes such as urethane, nitro cellulose, and others are sensitive to UV light. That's what causes the yellow color. Check out old PC and TV cabinets with urethane contents in the plastic - they also turn yellow as do wooden cabinets. The yellow shine has not much to do with smoke, beer, and...

Re: Small paint cracks at a 330/6 neck joint - !?!
On a 360/330 the neck continues to the middle of bridge pickup cavity. So no structural problems here. Sometimes finish cracks like that are caused by small bumps and knocks on the peghead - particularly on the side of it. The energy from even small impacts can spread along with the neck and cause t...

Re: Ric Storage Temperature and Humidity
What about those humidifier packs from Planet Waves and other manufactures that you place in the guitar case? Can be usefull - but Rickenbacker cases are made so that there's no free space around the guitar and when the lid is closed the peghead, the neck and the body are almost locked up in seopar...

Re: Ric Storage Temperature and Humidity
It takes quite awhile for wood to gain or lose humidity, so the normal variations you'd expect in a room, with weather changes or day/night changes aren't that big of a deal. Just try for 35% as best as you can. At 8% wood humidity and above, you have some pretty wood and not much else; it'll be cl...

Re: FG McGuinn sans compressor
John Hall, CEO of Rickenbacker, once admitted in an interview that the RM onboard compressor wasn't the best piece of electronics ever made and that they should have been working a bit more on it in the construction phase. In fact the compressor was known to be able to receive Radio Moscow (or somet...
