Re: Hugh Laurie?
Yeah, after I posted that I wondered what Bakelite you were talking about, because what I saw focused on was the other player! Now I see I needed to watch first vid to about 2:32 to spot it - had I watched the whole thing I would have realized my goof.

Re: Hugh Laurie?
Looks like a Yanuziello. Very nice guitars and electric mandolins, based on the look of Harmony guitars. Uses Fralin pups on some models.

You're not supposed to keep your guitar in a hot car trunk!

It's a non-cartoon version of all those Tex Avery, Warner Bros cartoons I used to watch! Should have had the driver sitting on the pavement afterwards, blinking his eyes in surprise.jingle_jangle wrote:Better:

Re: John Lennon: Computer Salesman
I saw this a few weeks ago and really, really disliked it. But then, Dirt Devil made commercials with Fred Astaire dancing with their vacuum cleaners (which his widow allowed, and his daughter decried). The Lennon OLPC ad at least is semi-altruistic and in keeping with John's cause-oriented persona,...

Re: Looking for some more information on this guitar
My memory is of this photo appearing during the discussion about some limited guitars being made just for the Japanese market. I could be wrong though, as my memory often is!

Re: Country Guitar
Which brings up my main question, do people ever use a thumb pick and finger picks with electric guitar? Picks on thumb, index, and middle are pretty standard fare for banjo and steel guitar (even electric steel), but it doesn't seem to be used on regular electric guitars much. Just wondering why.....

I've been to the store a few times, never bought anything. The owner is a nice, helpful guy and I wish I'd bought that 650 Sierra he was offering in the $900's a few years back! I think that I met you in the store once Robert, either when the store was in Manassas or (presently) in Gainesville; my ...

Re: R.I.P. Mick Karn
Oh man... I only learned within the past few months of his illness, but wasn't expecting this. His playing style is the only reason I sometimes think about getting a bass, and it would be fretless. Loved his playing on some of Gary Numan's music as well.

Re: Have we become jaded?
When the 650 Dakota and Sierra were discontinued, I thought there were hints that something else was in the works. But a year passed, and then another, and I guess I misread what I thought were clues.

Just listened to "Rossyln". Wow, I'm impressed. Now, where's my stop, Crystal City? Sounds like a good song title already!

Re: Wreckless Eric
I've got the old EP with that cover, beautiful brown vinyl.
I saw him play at the Birchmere in Virginia several years ago, he did not play a Rickenbacker. He was very approachable after the show and I talked with him for awhile; nice guy.
