Re: Cheap TRICKENBACKERS

I just watched the SXSW show on HDNET.Someone had a transonic onstage. I saw that last night as well - great show! At one point Tom was playing the twelve string bass, Robin had a twelve string Telecaster and Rick was playing an eight string guitar - three guys, thirty-two strings! :) Speaking of t...

Re: Cheap TRICKENBACKERS

Funny comment about Rick's rig. Most of the onstage amps and speakers are Tom's (the Transonics, Hiwatts, etc). The last few times Ive seen the band, I was either backstage or onstage at some point. Most of Rick's stuff (a wall of black and white checkerboard Gibson amps) were for appearances or, I'...

Re: Crack The Sky

Wow! CTS has been one of my all-time favorites since the late 70s. NO ONE talks about them anymore, so it's great to hear anything about them.

Re: Van Halen & Cheap Trick

Just stumbled on this old thread-very cool stuff-please keep 'em coming! I found an old Rt 66 catalog from the 90s a couple of weeks back (has a double bound Ric 360 on the cover I believe). Cool to see some rare guitars in there from 15 or so years back that are now owned by friends of mine (like t...

Re: Cheap TRICKENBACKERS

Tom would have no problem either bending strings on a Ric or doing lead runs. Considering all of his years on 12 string bass (which he invented with Paul and Jol from Hamer). Tom has long used Ric products. His stage rig for years included Ric Transinic cabinets that Jimmy Page used on Zep's '69 tour.

Re: So why do you pick one Ric over another?

The aesthetics drew me to Rickenbackers in the first place, but since the looks of a guitar mattered to me more than sound or playability for many years, I sold the Rics I've had. When I got the 12 string electric bug again, I was more "mature" and went with other makes for playability rea...

Re: History of the 360 WB

My twin bro had a natural one in the late 80s/early 90s that was a fantastic guitar. I never liked the natural finish, but that guitar sounded and played great. I remember being upset when he got rid of his 87 360/12 and didn't understand why he kept the 6, but he let me spend sone time with it and ...

Re: HERE'S A PROJECT FOR THE FORUM...

These make me want to start gigging on bass again, just to have an excuse to get one.
But-with three bands an an acoustic duo (guitar in each one), doesn't look good.

TFC is one of the greatest power pop bands of all time.
Cheap Trick was another of Cobain's great influences. Go figure!

Re: Classic R.E.M.

IT's going WAAAYY back, but the first time I saw REM (84 or very early 85), he wasn't playing a Pilot. I'm remembering a Ricky and/or a P-Bass, but the Fender could be recollections from later shows. The Hamer is similar to the Guild appearance-wise in some respects, but much better looking, playing...

Re: 320 325s who really plays them?

They're too small for me-both body-sized and tiny fingerboard. I'm even thinking about putting up my 660/12 for sale because that's on the tight side for a 12. Now a 360/6 would be cool...

To practice as a patent attorney, you have to sit for a patent bar examination. Not required (at least here) for IP law.
