Re: Roger and Marty

Promises to be a great show - I saw both of them separately at the Stagecoach festival earlier this year. Marty is a monster and plays Clarance's original tele, just as well, if not better than Clarance did. The backing band, including Kenny Vaughan is phenomenal. Looks like Roger will be playing e...

Re: John Blunt

Another very fine and authentic sounding lead vocal from John McNally. As my friend Gary Muth said to me after seeing the boys play at CasinoRama (north of Toronto) a number of years back, "why don't they have John do more lead vocals?" I know he does more now than ever before and that's a...

Re: rare track uncovered

I am told the track appeared on a bootleg emanating from Russia, yes I would say BBC session round about 64 waiting for confirmation from Frank Allen, he tells me he will ask John McNally because he doesn't recall it. Thanks for posting it Roy. A true rarity. And thanks for the Yahoo connection too...

just uploaded this some may enjoy it, all the singles released from 68 to 89, except the one released under name Pasha and a European only release called Shoot 'Em U Baby cYhjoC9Bba4 Umbrella Man was really terrific. q98cLZ5CkI0 Roy, the version of Love's Melody you have here is one of their TV sho...

Re: rare track uncovered

I was recently sent some tapes primarily of another group though a connection to Searchers, in amongst the stuff on the tapes were two tracks and the Index cover stated Searchers. The tracks were rather at too fast a speed to be certain it was the Searchers though I was sure one was however with th...

Re: "Fifth Dimension" and "Younger Than Yesterday"

Jake, You should absolutely own a copy of "Never Before." It's a veritable treasure trove of rare material from the early Byrds catalog: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dpopular&field-keywords=Byrds+Never+Before&x=0&y=0 Although some of the previously ...

Re: Searchers Abbey Road?

That's great Roy. A very strong performance by the boys. So, based on what I've read here re the time period, this would be Billy on drums sounding tougher than I've ever heard Billy. When I first heard it, prior to reading the posts, I thought it must have been Blunt.' Either way, I really enjoyed ...

Re: The Corporation

could listen to this 50 times and still not associate it with any of the acts listed! I hate the cheesy keyboards - the eighties has a lot to answer for! I see the group is subtitled the Travelling wrinklies. Is this a mickey take on the Traveling wilburys? If so it must be later than 1986. Traveli...

Re: The Corporation

I bought this record, unheard, shortly after it came out (via mail order). I think now, as I did then, that it was very good. Lots of energy. Lots of synergy. If they had been able to afford to use a horn section instead of the synthesizer, that would have capped it off for me. OK, did anybody else ...

Re: Book Deal

That was great. Thanks for posting. LOL. I felt so sorry for the auto focus on that camera that was used to shoot the tv screen. It was so confused by the cuts and the depth of field that it just kept on churning away trying to find a focus that it didn't need to find. That was really very interesti...

Re: Searchers/Beatles Hamburg Tapes?

Intriguing! It's documented that this song was a Beatles feature in the early Hamburg/Cavern years (John vocal). My bet is this is The Beatles after all. I totally agree. It sure sounds like Lennon to me. Additionally, the guitar styles and the drums don't sound anything like The Searchers of their...
