Re: Decoupled third pickup wiring
Many customers with 3 pickup Ricks like to have me wire the middle pickup to the 5th knob as a stand alone volume control for it...."decoupling" it from the rest of the neck pickup circuit. That's what I'm trying to do. I'm absolutely not bothered about having a second volume knob for the...

Re: Decoupled third pickup wiring
Hi iipopes, I have read that thread. To be clear, your wiring means the middle and the neck are not usable together?

Re: Decoupled third pickup wiring
It means that the action of that pot does not affect the other pickups. Rics are usually wired decoupled, Gibsons are not

Decoupled third pickup wiring
Hi all So is there a way to wire the third pickup to the fifth knob so it's decoupled? I've tried the middle lug and one of the end lugs with other end lug to ground and in each case when I turn the fifth knob to zero, all volume is lost. Should I wire the signal to an end lug, the other end to outp...

And then they stiuck a strangle cap on it to reduce the output still further!

Re: What's up with the Ric Vibrato?
A well broken in (i.e., flexed about ten thousand times) Ac'cent actually works nicely and stays in relative tune. The one on my 1997 works beautifully now. Of course if you're wanting to wammy and dive bomb, a Floyd Rose or Kahler it ain't. The RIC Vibrato beats the heck out of a Kaufman, but does...

Re: 330/6 Not as bright sounding as expected
I have an early '80s 350 and a 2006 330. The 350 has the bass cut cap on the bridge, but actually I find the 2006 really nails the bright attacky Jam tones. I find: - Rics really open up when you hit them hard - don't be wimpy in your picking and strumming - minimum 10 gauge strings - you do sometim...

Re: Thoughts on Playing Lead on Rick
Third guitar question. Thoughts on the Rick trem system? I'm not planing on doing any Steve Vai dive bombs, but I'd like a little trem here and there. Not much more than a little bump. If you want to use vibrato, the Accent is a fine unit that requires no modifications. Worth a try. Gotta disagree ...

Questions re. 1983 350
Dear all I picked up a 1983 350 (original 24 fret model). I will get a picture up tomorrow, but a few things I'm noticing in the meantime: 1. the frets are probably the lowest I've ever seen on a Ric. I don't think it's wear as the height is even across the fretboard, plus the fretboard varnish is i...

Re: 330 vs 350 sonic difference
Well, I now have both so I can post on this for future readers. However, first of all I will need to make my 350 match my 330 in electronic terms - that means removing the choke cap and installing 500k pots.

Re: Bigsby for a 330
Update on this, I have just ordered a Towner V block. It's just a block of Al that pushes the Bigsby further back off the guitar, but I'm wondering if it might make a B3 usable with a Ric 330. I don't have a B3 yet to test it with - next paycheck. Looks a bit clunky but it's reversible. http://towne...

330 vs 350 sonic difference
Can someone describe the sound difference between a 24 fret 350 (NOT the V63) and equivalent 330/340? Is there less bass response in the smaller body? How about feedback?
Many thanks!
Many thanks!
