Re: Strings - 330/12
Hi, I use sets of singles based on the gauges of the light Dean Markley electric set: 2581 LT .009/.009 .011/.011 .016/.008 .024/.010 .032/.016p .042/.022 I will change the low G from a 16 to a 17 or 18. I buy GHS flats or D'Addario Chromes for the wound strings and D'Addarios for the plains. I also...

Re: TI Flatwound 12-string set
I would respectfully recommend that instead of the 16 plain for the unison G string, use an 18 or 19 wound so that it will intonate properly with the octave g string on a six saddle bridge. That's what I do - as listed above - a custom 9's set, but out of D'Addario singles instead of Dean Markley s...

Re: The "I Got The 360/12 Tailpiece Restringin' Blues"
+1 on the capo for R tailpieces and Bigsby vibratos. This still means use of a cloth or cardboard to engineer the ball end into the slot on the R tailpiece on my 330/12.
I seldom use the capo for anything except restringing.

Re: TI Flatwound 12-string set
As an alternative I can recommend the gauges in the light Dean Markly electric 12 set. I don't think the DMs are still being made but I began building sets from singles from GHS flats and D'Addario plains (with a .022 plain for the low E). This works for me with both my 330/12 and my Danelectro DC 1...

Re: If John, George, and Paul Didn't Play A Ric, Would You?
For me more like "If Roger didn't play a Ric..." but then he got the idea for getting one from Hard Day's Night so ... I've included electric 12s in all my recording projects and live playing from 2007 onwards and wouldn't do without one. At first I couldn't afford a Ric otherwise I would ...

Re: Do you play differently on your Rickenbacker?
I have different guitars for different jobs and each one needs its own approach. My Les Paul is the easiest playing guitar I've ever had and I can either dig in or stay light. My Strat can take a lot of pressure but never quite allows too light a touch. As soon as I straightened the neck of my 330/1...

Re: Recommended amplifier for 12 string
Roger McGuinn praises the Roland Jazz Chorus and there's a lot to be said for the no nonsense cleans of solid state amps for the Ric jangle. Of the amps I've had since I've played 12 string electric I can say this: In my experience: Fender Twin Custom (single 15 in speaker). Current setup. Normal ch...

Re: joining the janglebox society
Count me in. Been using my JB2 for about six months now with my Stratocaster XII and the 330/12 Rick that replaced it as well as finding out how silky sounding it can make a Tele. Looking forward to putting my lap steel through it when I have the time.
Great piece of equipment.

Re: Take the Fireglos, man!
Holy guacamole! You have my envy and good wishes for this beautiful collection. What a line of poolside beauties. Makes me happy just looking at it. Interesting to see all those variations on fireglo. My personal preference leans to the pink or whiter middle than the amber one but the more fiery of ...

Re: add another Ric Man to the Forum.....
Wow. I'm not a big fan of the rounder look of 360s but man that Fireglo almost converts me.
Congrats!

Re: New 330/12
Nice one! I'll bet it sounds great through the 4x10 bassman. I'm curious what you didn't like about the TIs? Everything sounds good through the Bassman. I was a big Fender blackface fan and for a while I had a Deluxe Reverb reissue which did the job perfectly until I started turning it up more and ...

Re: New 330/12
Congrats Peter! Did you replace the pickups or did you buy it that way? My next goal is a 12 with Toasters...tell me about the tone? Do you have any experience with higains? Patrick I replaced the pickups. The guitar was bought "as new" with Hi-gains. The difference that I can hear is mid...

Re: New 330/12
Thanks guys. Very happy to finally be among the Ric fraternity. This is my fourth 12 string electric (Dano, Maton, Strat XII) and it does everything better than the others (some qualification there but it's generally true). Always loved Fireglo but never realised how great it looks in person. It's a...

Hey folks,
Just thought I'd share a pic o' my new (second hand) 330/12. Sole mod is the pair of toasters. Everything else is stock.
Enjoy
