Re: Help identifying a TRC
Jonathan, you could always get those nameplates that guy on FB makes out of wood with a matching wood treble bezel...   I could, but I won't. Those wood bezels really don't do it for me. Maybe they don't do it for you either, hence the shock smileys in your post? You kno...

Re: Help identifying a TRC
To answer the first question more specifically, the body and the truss rods are the only original parts there. Everything else was a replacement, often with new holes drilled to make parts fit. Here's a pic of how it was when I received it.jps wrote:What parts came with the bass, and what would/do you need?

Re: Help identifying a TRC
Fantastic! Thank you, Dane! I will certainly hit you up for a quote on all of that. It'll probably be in a few weeks after I raise more funds toward the project.aceonbass wrote:I've got most of those parts Jonathan. You know where to reach me...

Re: Help identifying a TRC
Thanks for the tip, Jeff! I already have one on the way, though. I'm not proud of this, but I bought a "Model 4001" TRC from the Jersey Butcher. Come to think of it, I don't even know if that's the right TRC for that bass in that era, but I've already bought it, so... Any input on that? I ...

Re: Help identifying a TRC
Indeed he did, whoever he is! The guy I bought it from bought it in that condition. The BA II has already been removed and added to my upgraded Squier. And what an upgrade over the stock Squier bridge it was!

Re: Help identifying a TRC
Bleh. I actually feared as much when I started looking a bit closer at it. I had been hoping to sell it. Oh well. The bass was a steal anyway. I'd be surprised if the bass was a fake. It has dual truss rods. The neck profile seems right, including the chunkier section behind the nut and first fret. ...

Help identifying a TRC
Hi, all! Long time, no see! I have started a new project. It's a set neck 4001S that I'm rebuilding from the ground up. I don't want to go into too much detail here as it's beyond the scope of this thread (I'll likely start another thread for that purpose later), but I do have a question about one o...

Gary,
My heart breaks for this loss. Having played several of these and being aware of the rarity and value of some of them, it's a real punch to the gut to hear about this.
I'm glad to hear that a couple of them have already turned up and will hope that several others turn up as well.

RIP Ross Hansen
Forum member Ross Hansen (username: windchimp) has passed away. My understanding is that he had some kind of accident while doing one of his favorite activities, mountain biking. He was a good friend to many of us here in southern California as he often attended our SCARF events. He was such a regul...

I thought you would like them!
And nice avatar, by the way. The wife and I just finished watching the entire X-Files series and both movies. We quite enjoyed it all!

Re: Want to try some new strings for my 4003FL
The La Bella white tapewound stainless steel set gauged .050-.105 is quite good on a 4003FL. I put a set on my 4003FL some time ago and have never looked back!
Let us know what you think once you've had a chance to put the set through its paces, cassius.

Re: The 4003S is back!!!
So... this is the reason for the 1" spacing Ric currently uses correct? The reason according to Paul's book is to take advantage of a harmonic node over the 1" spacing, but it likely helped to stabilize the area also, I would imagine. And yes, Cassius, that is indeed the C64 you test drov...

Re: The 4003S is back!!!
As far as I know, C64's are just as bad. I have a couple of customers with C64's that have such severe negative neck angles that the bridge won't go any lower, and the action is STILL too high...Early V63 and C64 basses weren't nearly as bad as current basses. That statement isn't universally true....
