Rickenbacker 360 JG from 1973 with slim headstock

I just found a nice 360 JG from 1973 that has a headstock that I have never seen on (pictures of) 360's from that period: it is much slimmer than the usual fat headstocks (with grover tuners) from that period, it carrier Kluson (type) tuners, and seems very similar to the versions from the 65-70 per...

Re: REM Broke Up!!!

R.E.M. is my all-time favorite band, but all things run their course. I'm glad they managed to squeeze one last excellent album (Accelerate). I thought "Collapse" was OK ("bad" seems a little harsh to me), but it seemed like the work of a band that was running out of steam. If e...

I do mind. I thought we were exchanging opinions in a civilized forum. In my opinion, the use of 'BS' is never appropriate.

Re: 330: any reason why it wouldn't be a good first electric?

[quote="Ain'tGotNoPokemon"]Funkapus, the reasons I wouldn't advise starting with one are: 4. There are other fine Rics to consider: The entire 600 series is incredibly underrated. They don't produce as much feedback, get the same Ric sound, and are more comfortable to some people. This goe...

If you like the sound of them (as you obviously do), then you'll certainly love the feel of them.

You can't go wrong on a 330. I may even prefer my 330 a bit more over my 360's (soundwise).

Re: Two soundholes?

Anyway, I still wanted to make a version with a smaller, elevated scratchplate. I kept the general shape, only made it to about 2/3 of what the current size is. This allows for much better knobs positioning, imo. Maybe I should try to see if I can photoshop a translucent one? 1__39702_zoom.jpg I wo...

A new project: a 1973 360/6 JG

This one was owned by a guy who only bought the guitar because there was a guitar strap on it that was once in the possession of John Lennon. The guitar strap is in the Beatles museum in Haarlem, the Netherlands. The (slightly) maltreated 360 is now mine. It's from november 1973 and had some lacquer...

http://elderly.com/search/elderly?terms=rickenbacker&x=0&y=0 Here you have '66, '89, 2002, 2007. i don't see a lot of difference in these photos. Again, I can easily distinguish them by the shape of the big horn alone (look at the differences in the pictures at the start of the thread; you'...

Re: Odd looking Ric last night on Jimmy Fallon...

It seems that the scratch plates are (non-standard) black, whereas the TRC is standard (as the rest of the hardware is chrome). Not nice. Then again I'm not a fan of any black hardware on Rick's.

Re: What drew you to Rickenbacker?

Sound, sound, sound! And, in particular, the arpeggios of Peter Buck and Johnny Marr. The ringing of open 'arpeggiated' strings of a 6-string Rick is simply astonishing to me; this convinced me to buy my first Rick, a 330 JG.
