John, I really, really like 4004's. To be honest this was the first time I had seen a real life Rick in person other than the one I own. And I was not disappointed. See the Ricks Wanted section if anyone is interested in a trade. Back to the topic: we did talk about you Howard, and about horseshoes,...

Here are some things I learned at the first SARD (warning: some non-Ric content); I really like the 4004 series of basses, a Thunderbird is one of the most aggressive sounding basses with nothing more than a flat eq, all of our wives can flat out cook! I really like 4004's, a v63's horseshoe is one ...

Cold War Kids

Caught Jimmy Kimmel's show last night. There was a band call Cold War Kids. The bassist was playing what looked like a Burgandyglo 4003. It had 1" spacing and triangle inlays.

Dane - you nailed it on the head. Playing before an oil painting is exactly what it felt like. Lol. Great use of words as always.

Thank you all for sharing and the words of encouragement. Mark, you are correct. No need to dwell on the past, what's done is done, etc.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around what happened. I know I was thrown off my game when a patron walked up to me, while playing, and said in my hear, "Why don't you guys play something people want to dance to?" and walked away. I thought pretty much all of our stuff was dance-related. ...

Ever had a bad show?

For the most part, the band I'm in, Home By 11 ( www.homebyeleven.com ) plays your garden variety cover band stuff. On the average, we are a fairly consistent bunch playing to small bars and pubs locally. Saturday night I thought we had a rock solid performance from 9:30 to about 1:00am. For some re...

I'll give it a go. If you ran Rickenbacker..... Rickenbacker is known world-wide for their classic guitar and bass designs. From various posts and interviews I have inferred that John Hall would like to have more progressive or at least different designs. The 4002 and 2000 series basses come to mind...

Jim Morris - my JG is most definitely black - no hint of a sparkle in it. However, polished up is is quite mirror-like.

I thought the bass player played a heavily modified Rick with a huge metal pick guard. That's not the one shown here, but I thought I saw it on the forum at one time.

Like many stories here, our practice space is a metal shed with a concrete floor. When I hit an open D - the place positivly rattles. And a low G gets the drums rattling a bit too.
