Re: 650D HB-1 pickup premature death.
Greg What you had was an open not a short. There are only three electrical faults. Opens, where there is a break in a wire or the circuit. Sometimes it is a good thing like when you use your light switch, you open the circuit to turn the lights off. Next are shorts, which are usually bad and trip ci...

Canada's FM
Was just looking up the Canadian band FM that I saw open for Rush on the Moving Pictures Tour. Went to You Tube and saw a video of FM doing a song called Just Like You and Cameron Hawkins is playing a 4001 or 4003. I really used to dig the album Black Noise but this song from an '85 album called Con...

Re: 650D HB-1 pickup premature death.
Unless something metallic has physically shorted out one of the two singlecoils of a humbucker, how is a pup going to short out. In all of my guitars and basses the closest thing that is made of metal that is not part of the pickup near my pickup is the height adjustment screws. I am sure you know a...

Re: 650D HB-1 pickup premature death.
Have you checked the resistance of the actual pickup you suspect is not working. If you take an ohm meter to it an it reads open (high resistance) then it needs to be replaced or rewound. Your pickup should read maybe somewhere between 4k for a low output pup to maybe 11k fora higher gain pup. If yo...

Re: Geddy and the boys in the RnR HOF...FINALLY!!!
Congrats to Rush. Love Rush, seen them 6 times. Now let me be the devils advocate. Like Eddie Trunk says it is the R N' R Hall of Shame. Let me see who is in there who should not be because they are not a R N' R artist: Abba Madonna Donna Summer Beastie Boys Run - DMC Grand Master Flash Nat "Ki...

Re: Yep...you just can't solo on a Rick!!!
Look at what EVH did with a factory second Charvel body and Charvel neck that cost about $130 total, one PAF out of an ES-335, Schwinn bicycle paint, a '71 quarter dollar, a cut vinyl record for the control cover and some truck reflectors, and large eye hooks for strap buttons. He changed the game e...

The Kajagoogoo guy looks like he is wearing a leather smock with no sleeves. Too Shy Shy Hush Hush Eye To Eye. They don't write lyrics like that any more.

Re: Geddy on National news
Vapor Trails was not bad. I was really suprized by Snakes and Arrows. Best Rush album since Pictures. The new album did nothing for me. I have tried to like it. After 6 tries it still has no soul. Rush from Grace Under Pressure to Test For Echo bored me. Each album had a good track or two. I have no...

Re: XTC - What is this bass?
Used to listen to them a lot back in the 80's and early 90's. First heard them when Drums and Wires came out. Loved Making Plans For Nigel. Around the time of Oranges and Lemons and Nonsuch I lost interest in them. They always had a great sound. Dear God was a huge hit back when alternative music wa...

I saw Dweezil last month, and his father 3 times in '84. I think Scott Thunes was on bass at the time. Dweez opened the second set as a power trio with Apostrophe ('). Jammin bass solo.

Saw them in 79 on the Dream Police Tour with Pat Travers Band opening. Not bad for my first real concert. Gonna Raise Hell was awesome.

Re: Ned's Atomic Dustbin
My best friend had God Fodder and wore it out and I got sick of hearing them. That was when Alternative Music was at the apex. In the next few years it would eat itself alive and got overly trendy. Forgot about the double bass attack.

Just saw Paul on You Tube and his bassist was rocking maybe a 4001C64. They were all wearing space suits.
