Re: Question about this combo 450(?) my grandfather bought

Wow! Awesome rare combo 650. I thought there were only two made......but yours looks to be a third one. Congrats. I'd say it dates from early 1959. Hopefully Ron O'Keefe could give a more definitive answer......

Re: Jackson Browne Model

I was fortunate enough to buy one of John's three prototypes some time ago. A very interesting guitar. It's a shame the Limited Edition didn't happen.

Re: Rickenbacker 370-12 Roger McGuinn questions

Maybe there's a problem with the output jack socket, causing a constant drain on the battery? I think I had that on one of mine.....back in the mists of time. As for battery choice, John Hall recommends a lithium battery, which I've had in mine for a few years now with no sign of giving up yet!

Re: 60's Jackplate on Ebay

I almost had this happen to me when PW "accidentally" put the wrong jackplate on a restoration. Luckily I managed to get it back. Good luck Ash!

Re: Problem With McGuinn E1 Compressor Circuit

I thought the same thing myself. This is a feature of the circuit that I like, the fact that you can get SO MUCH compression, that the initial strike of the string fades in, almost like a backwards guitar effect.

Re: Problem With McGuinn E1 Compressor Circuit

I had a dead McGuinn circuit board and asked JH for help. He said that 99% of the time, any problems with the circuit were down to the black chip shown in the attached photo. I replaced it and bingo, all working again. I've seen a few of these chips on Ebay. Hope that helps? Photo on 04-01-2018 at 1...

I'm pretty sure I saw a dusty A4 carton full of Byrd switches when I visited the factory several years ago....
