Re: Flat Wounds

To me, the LaBella DTB strings are the single best bass strings on the planet. They will also custom make different winding lengths for you at no extra charge, if for example, you have a 27"scale Airline Pocket Bass that you need strings custom fabbed for. Might take 6 months or so tho....

Re: 1976 4001 and a 1957 Combo 400

It's weird. I looked at it again. The pot doesn't seem to spin past it's stop. Nor is it spinning on the guard surface. It's the black diamond nob that is spinning on the post of the pot, it's like there is no screw down in the the little thread. In fact, after messing with it bit more that is the c...

Re: 1976 4001 and a 1957 Combo 400

After careful inspection I do see the slight difference in the scratch plate there. Mine definitely has the 56 angle on the top right. I couldn't see any instance of the diamond knobs being used on any of the pictured 400's or 450's, so those probably aren't original to the guitar, but they look coo...

Re: 1976 4001 and a 1957 Combo 400

4c72xx, so I was thinking it was a 1957. So they did move to glued wings. Would have been a lot easier to refinish them if they were bolted on. No matter, I doubt I will fuss with it too much, it plays amazing as is. Anyone have a photo of what the '57 scratch plate was supposed to look like?

Re: Echo Units Past and Present

Maybe the Aussies here remember this one: YBnIW63ax9I The DL4 is good in a pinch for the price and pretty easy to manipulate live, if it's close to you. If it's on the floor you'll be bending over a lot if you ever need multiple settings for different songs. The loop capabilities as demo'ed from the...

Re: Soprano Saxophone Shoot Out

Hard to tell from the recordings (as stated) but I like the warmer tone of the mouthpiece from #2. I'm an ex-tenor player and used to use aggressive metal mouthpieces and plastic reeds (sometimes) to get a snarling, burlesque tone. But that's through the warming body of a tenor. I think that the met...
