Re: Eight-string 4005 on eBay - Paul Wilczynski custom built

D'oh! Ah, thankyou Erik! I had been away from the forum for so long, I had forgotten that there is a separate forum for discussing online sales... Thankyou for posting the link - fascinating to read about that gorgeous guitar! It is always pleasant to see old, damaged guitars being brought ba...

Eight-string 4005 on eBay - Paul Wilczynski custom built

Hello one and all - hope that you have all been enjoying the summer! :D I apologise if this has already been mentioned, but there is a beautiful eight-string 4005 on eBay at the moment - I never even knew that such a thing existed! The seller says that it was custom-made by Paul Wilczynski, although...

Re: LOTS OF PROJECTS NEARING COMPLETION...

Well I'll try to show how sound the Rickenbacker 700/12C made by P.W, my apologies for the mistakes. Wow - what a beautiful tone!!! It sounds absolutely spot-on for The Beatles (or for anything which requires a bright, melodic jangle) - really, really lovely! Thankyou very much for posting the vide...

Re: Please convince me to buy a 620!

Some very helpful bits of information there. :D I was interested to hear about the guitarist in your band, Ash. I think my situation is quite similar to his - I have been playing Les Pauls for so long that my ear just needs something new, much as I love Les Pauls! It would be fantastic if the differ...

Re: Please convince me to buy a 620!

Yep - that definitely helps! :D In fact, I have decided to go for a 620 (thanks in large part to all of the help and opinions which I have received here), and I'm going to start saving and browsing the "For Sale" forum here, as well as eBay, GBase, etc. I will be sure to let you know and t...

Re: Please convince me to buy a 620!

Thankyou very much for your replies, everybody! You have raised some excellent points, and they have all been things which have made me think even more favourably of the 620. :D I haven't played very many Rickenbacker guitars (as opposed to basses), but I have found the necks to be quite comfortable...

Please convince me to buy a 620!

Hello everybody! :D Well, the title says it all, but I'll elaborate a bit further! I am currently looking for a great, versatile guitar to cover "non-Les Paul" tones - think jangly, cleanish sounds which could cover anything from The Beatles and the Stones to Jeff Buckley. I am used to pla...

Re: Thunderbird

Nice price on the Lull! The Cataldo looks pretty nice, too, but I have not heard of them, before. Cataldo basses are big favourites amongst the regulars on Talkbass! The builder, Carlos Cataldo, is present on the forum regularly and his customer service is fantastic - a lot of his business is condu...

Re: Beater Rickenbackers Anyone?

I destroyed my upper left arm a couple years ago; the top 4 inches of the bone is artificial, and the range of motion is limited and painful. I do have an old right handed Epiphone bass that's slated for conversion; Ouch - that sounds extremely painful, and I am genuinely sorry to hear it. Still, i...

Re: Beater Rickenbackers Anyone?

Unfortunately. it's wrong-handed (for me), else it would have been mine a while ago. I've had to pass on lots of neat stuff for that reason-story of my life. I'm sorry to hear that, Chris. That must be a real nuisance, and you often have to pay more for a left-hander too! I know that this is a some...

Re: This is my punk...or something

This is a fascinating discussion! And I would like to thank Sheena in particular, for the insight into the punk sensibilities of Russian folk music from centuries ago, and the fist fights between fans of Russian singers back in the 1940s. Absolutely incredible stuff, and I love reading all about it!...

Re: Beater Rickenbackers Anyone?

Thankyou very much for the information, CJJ! I confess I'm surprised that it is still there, when it is not much more expensive than a brand-new 4003. The restoration would be an expensive job, and the stain would limit your finish options somewhat - but all the same, it's a 1960s 4005! I doubt whet...

Re: Beater Rickenbackers Anyone?

How about the brown fretless 4005 which has been on eBay (from music-outlet-shoppe) for a good while now? Has anyone given serious thought to making him an offer and bringing the old girl back to life? I doubt if you could restore it and sell it for a profit, but it might make a really enjoyable lon...

Re: Rickenbacker Owners Must Root For The Giants In Super Bowl

Your design is tricky but can be done simpler. Instead of putting Lions all over it, just lay your guitar on the ground and stomp on it like Suh to get footprints on the guitar. Actually, your idea is pretty cool. Forget the fretboard markers. That would be insane to do. Just spray paint the guitar...
