I've played a '59 Fender Musicmaster with vintage Gibson flatwounds on it. It played and sounded absolutely amazing. Maybe i'm just a huge fan of the flat sound
Beatles do that to ya.

Re: Your musical influences?
I like this thread, and I'm gonna post even though it's a little old :) I listen to any rock and roll music, with very few exceptions (I really don't like Jefferson Airplane/Starship) The reason I play guitar is The Beatles..When I was 5, my favorite movies were A Hard Day's Night and Help!, but I a...

Re: Which Ric should I get?
Cool. Yeah I've still got to save up money, but I'll look around and see if anyone is selling a Fireglo 330 or 335 for the right price. I've decided that I want to get a 620 too, Jetglo and replace the pickguard with a Gold lucite type....then maybe get a Fireglo 620 with gold pickguard, then maybe ...

Re: Which Ric should I get?
Thanks for all the replies! I feel very welcome :) I've decided on a 330, and I'm getting psyched! I found one in the Sam Ash in Las Vegas, plugged it in the same amp I have at home, and tried it. I couldn't stop playing! My parents had to drag me out of the store. That is what sold me on a Ric. Now...

Hopefully, my next and first will be a 330 or 331 Lightshow conversion. Gotta love it,

Re: Which Ric should I get?
Welcome to the RRF, Marc ! Sounds like you are already thinking like an RRFer with the plan for a 330, a 325C and a 620 !! Your Ric Acqusition Syndrone will be nurtured along quite well by the members of this Forum ! :D We share your excitement in taking these first steps. Thanks! Yeah, I just love...

Re: Which Ric should I get?
Thanks for that. I like the look of the 600 series, and I like the sound. You can really tell when Tom Petty plays one on Full Moon Fever as opposed to the 330. I'm thinking of a 330 first, then getting a 325C58 or C64, then maybe a 620...I decided on the 330 for a few reasons: I've played one and a...

A Ric 331 question
Just a question: My first post was about which Rick I should get. I think I've decided on a 330 for my first Rickenbacker. Now, things get complicated. I'm a big fan of the old Lightshow guitars. I don't know a lot about them, just that they are rare and very cool. Has anyone here been bold enough t...

My jealousy rears its ugly head...beatboy77 wrote:Here is my Macca bass collection. Consists of a 1961 Hofner 500/1 "Cavern", a 1962 Hofner 500/1 and a 1964 Rickenbacker 4001S. Other than not being left-handed each is Macca-spec.

Re: Which Ric should I get?
Thanks ModLang. I listened to some of your band's stuff. It sounds really good, and you can hear the Rick. It's so distinctive. There's a bit of a tone difference from the hollow ones, but eventually I'd like my collection to include both.

Re: Which Ric should I get?
Yeah, I know my baker isn't great, but it gets the job done. I'm trying to build an arsenal. For a lead guitar, I'm thinking of an Ibanez Fireman Paul Gilbert model, then for lighter leads and rhythm a 330 and a 325 respectively. I really wanna 325...I just have that Beatle influence rooted deep ins...

Re: Which Ric should I get?
Thanks for the replies. I play rock style, mostly blues, and until recently I haven't played much Beatles. I hold their music to the same respect as Bach or Beethoven: Don't play their music unless you can do it justice. Right now, I play an Ed Roman Baker..It's nice, but I've had a lot of customiza...
