For $16K I'd want the proprietor to be able to pronouce the name correctly!

Re: I am surprised at the strict Ric warranty stringset term
This is compounded by the fact that the model year of the RIC instrument makes a difference, as they've only gotten more tolerant in the recent years, but anything we publish has to apply to all instruments. If you know what model year / tension is acceptable, why not tell the consumer? and if the ...

Re: I am surprised at the strict Ric warranty stringset term
To go with your analogy, if GM insisted that only Pirellis should be fitted to their cars in order to maintain warranty, there'd be an uproar. No that is not a good analogy. Here is a better one. Actually, the first analogy is much better. And, no disrespect, your analogy is terrible. Look, Rickenb...

Re: 4003 bass neck theory how it works/behaves?
Is not an advantage of dual rods that adjustments can be made more to a player's liking - one rod tweaked to bring one side more in line to taste and somewhat independently of the other? I mean, not just an improved remedy to a potential neck twist?

Beautiful.
So, "not a one off"... assuming, then, a limited run?
Street price guess? $2400?

Re: 4003 Blackbird?
The OP did not mislabel. There was a post on Rickenbacker's FB page with that photo and the caption "The Blackbirds are coming" (since edited). Was referring to the facebook poster of April 2013, didnt use the term "OP." I can say firsthand that that teaser is having the desired...

Re: 4003 Blackbird?
That's, essentially, a 5 string Blackstar. That's what I figured - with there actually being the small dot fret markers, just hard to see in the low res photo. The bridge looks chrome but hard to tell. I'm sure it's a decently passed around photo (I mean, McCartney stuff doens't go unnoticed) and t...

Re: Selling a vintage Rick bass -experiences?
Investigate the marketplace and appraisal sections here. I'm not sure how they work, never had the opportunity, myself. You say you've never sold an expensive piece of gear on eBay, but are you an experienced seller in other 'stuff'? I mean, eBay can be great and give good value, it can be a real mi...

Re: Ebay Wreck
He's doing quite well for himself... already in profit zone, assuming pickups and harness work correctly and don't come back to him as returns. He'll make hundreds off the whole thing eventually, if the completed (sold) eBay auctions of his are all from the same guitar. If he sells that hulk of the ...
