Re: NGD 360/12c63 - need a first Beatles riff ?

If you have a chance, check out the youtube video I posted about the opening chord to A Hard Day's Night. It's from the isolated tracks of the original Beatles tape as shown to Randy Bachman by George Martin's kid.... Everyone had the chord wrong - including me :) .....

Re: Opening Chord..Hard Day's Night

Well - here's the solution to the opening chord - directly from the Beatles tapes.

E - 3 = G
A - 3 = C
D - 3 = F
G - 2 = A
B - 1 = C
E - 3 = G

Here it is... Mystery solved :)

Yes It Is vocals

This isn't the complete song, but it is the hard to hear parts. I'm sure many of you have listened to versions of this with only John's vocal, which clears up some melody questions. This was something I did for my friend's Beatles band a while ago. Sorry about some of the typos. Yes It Is vocals.pdf

Because vocals

Hi all,
I had this on my desktop and I thought I'd pass it on. As you can see, George duplicates Paul's note on the "be" of "because" the first two times through and sings what might be considered the traditional missing 3rd in measure 26. Anyway.... Here it is.

Re: And Your Bird Can Sing - Advanced

Cool arrangement! Not super easy but do-able with some practice. Nice work. I think something I would change, and this is just personal preference, is I would start on the 7th fret of the B/G strings and keep sliding down on those strings instead of switching between the e/B and B/G. John, that's e...

Re: And Your Bird Can Sing - Advanced

In the second to last measure, the high E should only bend 1/2 step to an F, not an F#. (I'm just not a tab person)..... In the word(s) of Rick Perry - "Oops"

And Your Bird Can Sing - Advanced

I'm trying to include both notes and tab here. This is a way to play both parts at once. I have tuned the low E down to a D and put the capo on the 2nd fret, but actually I only use my capo on the A,D, G, B, and E strings and leave the low E alone. I don't think the tab program lets me do that. When...

Re: Triads

Well trying to play them as a chord really didn't sound correct. Therefore in the C mag triad the three notes to be in harmonic balence would be C,E,G if I am reading this corrrectly. So while another person on a 6 string plays a C chord a progession of notes using C,E or G would be correct?? Yes, ...

Re: Eight Miles High beginning guitar solo...

Hey.... Can we talk about the song! It's the same chorus, (or verse?), repeating forever with instrumental breaks at the beginning, in the middle and at the end. There's no bridge... How cool is that! And the vocals, at first parallel and the contrary. These guys had ears, chops and brains :) .

Re: Eight Miles High beginning guitar solo...

I love the solo, but I wouldn't call it totally original in conception. McGuinn has been very open about the influence of John Coltrane's "sheets of sound" on the EMH solo. Before he plays the introduction on acoustic at his shows, he always mentions Andres Segovia as well as Coltrane. As...

Re: Eight Miles High beginning guitar solo...

JimK, I have no desire to learn the EMH solo note for note, if that's what you were suggesting. But, honestly, I've never had the requisite technique to even approach the song. If you feel comfortable embellishing the solo, more power to you. It just goes to show that McGuinn has prodigious chops, ...
