I've been using Dean Markley Blue Steel XL 40-95 on the V63. Nice and slinky, the way I like 'em.
I used medium gauge Ken Smith Rock Masters on the 4003 before it was stolen.

Re: Classic Yamaha BB300

I have a BB450F, which is just like the BB300 except it's a PJ configuration with volume/tone and 3 way toggle.
The F is because it's the fretless model. Also, in metallic red, great solidly built instrument. I dig it.

Re: What kind of bass amp do you use with your Rickenbacker?

I use my 1994 4003 through my Hiwatt stack consisting of a 1973 DR103 Custom 100 into a 1x15 cab and a 2x12 cab....sounds fantastic, as you can imagine 8) .....

Occasionally, I'll play it through my Acoustic 370/406 2x15 rig which also sounds very healthy.

Re: Installed a horseshoe on my '73

I've been thinking about buying one of those to put in my 94 JG. I really like the look, especially the
larger surround. I used to have a V63 that had the horse shoes removed, sounded tremendous.
