I agree with the last post - great review!
Out of interest what was the venue? - it like a theatre with a proscenium arch.
Also what was the overall sound like?
I've never really been into Rush, but would go to the gig if they ever visited this part of the world.

Even the Marshall logo has been hidden by CGI. Usually a piece of gaff tape would suffice!

Re: 4001 Basses - Case Queens Or Gigging Beasts?
I tend to use my Mex Jazz when out and about. Even if it was covered by insurance it would be heartbreaking to lose the old RM1999 at a dodgy venue.

Re: TC Electronics Cabs
The TC website still says the BC212 cabs have Eminence "custom" speakers (the one own): http://www.tcelectronic.com/bc212/tech-specs/ There is nothing inherently wrong with Chinese manufactured electronics/speakers provided the overseas manufacturers provide adequate quality control. I wor...

Re: TC Electronics Cabs
I've got a BC212 cabinet paired with a BH250 and love it. Very clean and loud. The BH250 is jams a lot of features into a very small box. Both are made in China hence the relatively low cost, but for a low budget rig is probably just as good as anything else out there. I'm not sure where the RS and ...

RM1999 untouched truss rood and TRC
There's been a few posts about RM1999's lately, so here us another one. I took mine (DK571) into our local repair shop (Clingan Guitars, Melbourne) to get a few things done: stabilise some checking on the back of the neck near the nut; and regauss the horseshoe. Without me requesting it Jereme decid...

Re: Rickenbacker Polish
The Sadowsky website has the following comments on silicone (right grey sidebar):

I'm not an expert on this so just putting it out there!

Re: Rickenbacker Polish
Paul, thanks for your advice regarding silicone. I have found Zymol here in Melbourne, but there are numerous products - is there a specific one you use?

Re: Rickenbacker Polish
I have an ancient spray can of G'wax which somehow found it's way to Australia which I use on various instruments including my old 64 RM1999 and a classical guitar and it works really well. It's still manufactured in Virginia: http://www.chem-pak.com/catalog/musical_instruments/cleaners_conditioners...

Re: Courtney Love's isolated Ric tones
As an ex live sound guy, I think it is unfair to isolate individual channels in a live sound mix, and then broadcast them for general public consumption. If you want to do that you should also post the overall mix, and I bet it sounds fine. When you are doing live sound you often do a PFL (pre fade ...

Re: 4005 back in production!
I'd love an original 4005, but slightly out of budget at the moment!
Gretsch have the orange Electromatic (made in Korea), which seems to be well made/finished, sounds good, looks great, and is relatively affordable.
