Re: Accent Vibrato

Bought a set of Rickenbacker 10-42 compressed wound and fitted them - couple of businesses here in the UK supply them still. Better balance of sound now and after adjusting pickup height and poles, the results are pretty good. :)

It did once I knew it was safe to give it a bit more oomph. Thanks again. :)

Re: String height?

1/32" seems really close, to me. Back off the pickup until the distortion is minimized, no worries about moving things around, as you can always put it back to where it was previously if necessary. Do the pole pieces on your pickups have allen key "slots"? If so, they are adjustable,...

String height?

Just getting used to the 335 and I have a bit of an issue with odd almost distorted overload sound from the bridge pickup if I strike the individual strings quite hard. Looking at the volume levels of my DAW on screen, no amount of adjustment up or down alters this overloading sound - even if the vo...

Re: Accent Vibrato

Well the Accent that I bought on eBay arrived yesterday and is now fitted so I guess I technically now have a 335. :) Because the hole location in the end plate is a little low, as some have commented, I took the plunge and drilled another about 10mm above it and used that to locate it with the stra...

Re: Give It Back ...

Just recently joined so trawling through the sound files until I arrived at this one. What a fabulous production - the 330 sounds stunning and the whole piece has great presence and punch. Listening on headphones I was surrounded by Ricks, or so it seemed. More please. 8)

Jangleboxes?

As a relative newbie to this site and recent Rick purchaser, I was totally unaware of these devices. I've only listened to a couple of YouTube demonstration recordings using one but haven't come across any sensible with\without sound files that would explain what exactly it does that differs from an...

Re: First recording posted here

I record late at night wearing headphones to avoid disturbing the boss so having this morning listened on desktop speakers instead, decided (as did 'she who must be obeyed') the backing was too quiet and the guitar tracks were overpowering it, so here's an adjusted version: You've got a friend 3.mp3...

First recording posted here

Having just bought my Blueglo 330 I decided to record something and opted to emulate a 12 string! Played through a Behringer SE200 Spectrum Enhancer pedal and into a Yamaha Acoustic Magicstomp using their 12 string Patch U74. Recorded in Garageband on the Mac with its Fender amp emulation, some very...

Re: Accent Vibrato

Thanks for the swift replies. I read and commented in the other accent thread where it was suggested drilling the guitar tail with a lower placed hole and filling the old one. Someone had done this and included a photo showing the end result, but my idea was to re-drill the accent's tailpiece instea...

Re: Accent Vibrato

Just curious as to whether folk have an opinion on my idea of drilling a new hole higher in the Accent's tail plate rather than a lower one in the body?
I'm about to install one and could do with the advice before I proceed.

Re: Burns' Guitars Showcase

This is my greenburst Marvin that I sold a while back to fund yet another strat - lovely neck to handle and some great tones but was strat-obsessed at the time and needed the money.
Should have kept it . . . :|

Re: New Rick owner as of today!

Thanks for the replies - I'm a very happy chappie. :D Just about to order an Accent vibrato unit and will fit that as soon as it arrives. Don't wish to dive bomb my notes but do need that added gentle vibrato for my playing style, which it should be able to handle if memories of my first Rick back i...

Re: New Rick owner as of today!

Congrats Martyn, very nice. Where did you manage to pick that one up from? Project Music in Exeter. They took this and a Fireglo 370 12 string in part exchange for some other gear a while back. They had it listed at £1195 as it's pretty much unblemished and of course comes with its modern and very ...
