Re: Cost To Refinish 4003S Jetglo?

Check out https://www.davisguitarworks.com/
Right now Larry's site says $1,100 -- $1,800 US dollars.

Lemmy Action Figure ... with 4001

Does anybody know if RIC had to sign-off on this?
It doesn't appear to say "Rickenbacker" on the TRC.

Are the included frets stainless steel?

Re: 4001 Tailpiece Replacement Options

I also have a 2020 4003CBAUT that has no problems getting the action as low as I like. Are the frets taller on your 2020 bass? I seem to recall Paul W. telling me that the factory would take away quite a bit of fret material, and that it's always been that way. I wonder if newer instruments are lef...

Re: 4001 Tailpiece Replacement Options

I've read some people have had issues with the v2 tail not allowing the action to go low enough -- or at least as low as the original -- and it's usually blamed on the design of the new saddles and their adjustment; does anyone who uses one have thoughts about this? I have heard this complaint from ...

Re: Dogwood and NAC

I've had a bottle of NAC in my cabinet for over a decade now; I had initially purchased it after reading studies about how it had been used for treatment of chronic rhinitis as a product called "mucomyst." I generally pop a few if I feel the sniffles coming on. Back when I was still drinki...

Re: Why Did You Let Your Rickenbacker Go?

I let my '82 4003 go because I didn't play it much -- I didn't appreciate the chunky neck at the time -- and because a good friend of mine, who had been playing it exclusively for years in our band, developed a relationship with it. A 90's 4003 in white showed up on my local Craigslist; I always wan...

Re: Sunflower Bean

Back in 2016 they played immediately before a band I was in at Denver's Underground Music Showcase, and they're quite good live.
I don't remember Julia playing a Rickenbacker, unfortunately; she played a silverburst Thunderbird the entire show.

Re: Bass Amp Recommendations

When I worked at the School of Rock we had a few Fender Rumble amps, and you can't really go wrong with one for the price regarding your needs. Also check out the Ampeg BA-108 v2, and the Hartke HD25, provided this will strictly be an in-home, practice amp; Rumble 100 is too big (I think) for someth...

Re: Who gigs with a combo amp?

I personally have used a MarkBass CMD 102P live, and I have absolutely no complaints. If you have PA support: it makes a nice monitor for yourself with the ability to tilt; if not: 500W gets the point across, and provides lots of head-room. It's also really light-weight at under 30lbs. I understand ...

Any thread which mentions the return of vinyl in this age should absolutely at least mention Jack White's Third Man Records, which is at least partially responsible for the recent resurgence of vinyl:

Hopefully Ric will do a Limited Edition 4003 for Wildwood Guitars sometime soon.
I'd love to see one in White with black hardware & checkered binding...
If it's with black hardware: "reverse" checker (black on the outside) would look superb.

Re: Toaster vs. High gain, which one for you?

I have had 4 different pickups in my 4003; a 70's toaster, a reissue horseshoe pickup, and the stock 90's high-gain pickups. The configuration I currently prefer is the RIHS and high-gain, as the volume disparity between my particular toaster and reissue horseshoe was too drastic. The toaster defini...

Re: Colfax Guitars

I've taken several guitars there, including a 4003; every time it has been either Dave (the owner) and/or Christian in the shop.
They do a good job, and are pleasant to deal with.
