Re: Truss Rod Cover Real or Reproduction?
If you're referring to the touch up paint on the back of it, then yes, the seller acknowledges it as being touched up. Didn't say whether he did it or not. I'm just confused because I bought what was first called a 1970 original silk screened acrylic trc and then once I got it and questioned it, I w...

Truss Rod Cover Real or Reproduction?
as the title says, looking for info on what I've got here. Obviously its been touched up, which the seller is very upfront about. I'm told this is a pre 1966 TRC because its lacking the made in USA, but I'm seeing plenty of pre 1966 trc's with made in usa on it.... Not trying to start a debate or wh...

Re: transitional hi gain set, HUGE ohm rating difference
Man what an incredibly thoughtful reply! Many thanks for this. Confirms a lot of thoughts I've already had and shared but also brings legit experience into the fold. I really appreciate it. Thank you!

transitional hi gain set, HUGE ohm rating difference
So I've (thanks to people here on the forum) figured out I've got a cool old set of transitional hi gains from 69 or so. I'm really wanting to put these pickups in a project dream ricky, but am concerned about the ohm rating difference between the two. Although I've certainly heard tales of signific...

Re: RIC 4001C64 tailpiece closeout
THey might not be. They're still selling them. Said that they've sat so long that some may have blemishes on them, which is why they are offering the discount...hmmmmm.

Re: Lets talk about horseys
Thanks Wiker! I had definitely noticed the difference between the TIs and the Pyramids, but didn't know that about Optimas. Very helpful!

Re: Lets talk about horseys
Not only to get it the pickups even with each other but also just to get each lower in output in general! To my ears they are both hot to the point of just being muddy...a tube amp that I would normally be able to drive a little to say 4 on volume now has to be turned to 2 to get the same volume (he...

Re: Lets talk about horseys
Got the strings on the way, my friend! That change is the obvious part for me. Sorry I didn't include it in the original post. I'm asking the questions about the less obvious bits. I've definitely experimented with pickup height but with the horseshoe particularly, there is very limited play as the ...

Re: Lets talk about horseys
Hi everyone. First time chiming in on this topic. Favorite bass sounds are the usual McCartney's Sgt. Pepper etc. sounds, but then also one I don't hear EVER: Roger Waters tone on Piper at the GAtes of Dawn and then other 60s rick sounds from the Who, the Kinks etc. So basically I'm wanting as close...

Re: 360 pickup wiring/balance issues
So as a progress report: I got some new hi gains for the 360 which both measure around 12.4. I took the old ones out of course and the neck measures at 14.44 and the bridge at 6.59!! So that should solve the issue right? Wrong. Although there IS an improvement in the overall balance of tone, there i...

Re: 360 pickup wiring/balance issues
Also perhaps noteworthy is that when I decrease the volume knob on the neck pickup, the resistance is increased significantly until it equals closer and closer to 100 k (horseshoe) as I get toward 0 volume. The bridge pickup, however, changes minimally in amount of resistance even though the volume ...

Re: 360 pickup wiring/balance issues
Thanks Tsang, I see where you did indeed. I was wondering if there was any downside to that, which was just answered with the string spacing thing. So I did the resistance testing trick using a short cable in the input and measuring by switching on the bridge pickup alone and then touching my ends t...
