Re: Dates announced for 2015 Tour

I understand how you feel Greg. In an extreme example, I was never really able to bond with Jethro Tull after they canned Glenn Cornick. I went to a couple of Tull concerts over the years without Glenn, but as I settled into my musical preferences, I found it hard to connect to the music after he le...

Re: Midnight blue vs. Snowglo

Another vote for SnoGlo. I was lucky enough to get one and I love it.
I'm probably in the minority but I am not a fan of black on white Rics.

Re: Rickenbacker 4003s Reissue Review

And a toaster and a horseshoe............ I have a Lollar horseshoe ready for me (which he wound slightly hotter) which I was thinking would go in my SnoGlo, but now I'm tempted to put it in the FireGlo 4003s I have coming. I was also thinking of having this refinished in Seafoam, or in a CS cream ...

Re: Rickenbacker 4003s Reissue Review

I was on a list with Apple Music in Portland and they called today with one Fireglo left. I have no business doing so, but I pulled the trigger. It was too tempting.

Re: It's really hard to like Rickenbackers...

Now you're talking John! Short scale and hollow! My main electric bass has been a Jerry Jones Longhorn which is short and semi hollow. That thing gets just about every tone I'll ever need… plus it's weird looking to boot! I resisted P basses forever because they were EVERYWHERE, but when I was offer...

Thanks Bob! I appreciate hearing that! Danny, I wouldn't go so far as to say you're in the wrong.... in fact I wouldn't say that at all. I know you love your Ric, and I know why! Since you asked for opinions I thought I'd share how I think in these types of situations. Just something to think about....

Re: It's really hard to like Rickenbackers...

There is a reason people want P basses in bands/gigs/recordings. They have a sound that fits a certain way in the mix which make people comfortable. We all approach our profession (or hobby) in different ways, and I've come to embrace the motto of "the right tool for the job". When I do a ...

Re: Rickenbacker 4003s Reissue Review

Tom, thanks for sharing those great photos of your new, beautiful bass.... and thank you for sharing your initial thoughts. I'm sure I'll be getting one sometime down the road, and I would install the vintage style knobs as well. It's a very classic look. I'm looking forward to seeing the other fini...

Re: The 4003S is back!!!

I'm only 3 hours from Portland and just called Apple Music. They have (as you know) the walnut version. He said it was the NAMM bass. They are asking $1649. I know the walnut is lovely, but truth be told it's my least favorite. I'm holding out for some other finish.
Nice to see it getting started!

Re: The 4003S is back!!!

I'm having a hard time resisting…. I really want one. Hmmm… FireGlo for that vintage look… throw in a Lollar HS…
Although I already have a 4003 SnoGlo, I'd have placed my order already if Rickenbacker offered that color!
Anyway, just thinking out loud. I'm really happy the S is back.
