Re: Talk me out of selling my 360-12, to get a Trek 7.5 FX

So Rob, after three days, what's the verdict? Have you been talked out of selling your Rick yet? Inquiring minds....and all that. JimK okay, I expected most everyone here to tell me to keep the RIC, but I didn't expect half of the bike forum people to tell me that as well. Every time I think about ...

okay, I expected most everyone here to tell me to keep the RIC, but I didn't expect half of the bike forum people to tell me that as well. Every time I think about my RIC when it's in the case, I consider selling it, but as soon as I take it out - it looks at me with that one big cat-eye, and I can'...

Re: Talk me out of selling my 360-12, to get a Trek 7.5 FX

Rob, tell us more about your 360-12. From your avatar, it's obviously a MG. What year? What would you be looking to get for it? How much is the new bike you want? If you want some good advice, let's be specific. BTW, what are you doing -- biking in Michigan this time of year? Consider: Holid...

Talk me out of selling my 360-12, to get a Trek 7.5 FX

The title says it all! I need to step up from my Trek Navigator 2.0 comfort bike, to a faster Trek 7.5 FX hybrid bike, but I have no money. I have two great acoustic guitars (a Guild DV-52, and a Yairi DY-80-12), a Stratocaster Ultra, as well as a Jazz bass that I play at Church. I don't record with...

Wider necks on the 12-strings! It took this long for someone to post this change?

Re: RM 1996 Guitar Buyer Feature

A bit of a mixed review, and bizarrely the front cover is photo re-touched to lose some grain pattern from the top horn. I don't think that the photo is retouched to reduce the wood grain, but rather either the camera, or the printing press allowed the red to "block-up", and dominate the ...

Re: Some of my RIC photos

The 330-12 shots were done with Ektachrome 64T(E6 transparency, Tungsten balanced), the 620-12 shot were done with Kodacolor VPL (C41 negative - tungsten balanced), and the 360-12 shots done with a Canon EOS 20D digital. I shot the 330-12 before VPL became available in the 35mm format, since I don't...

Re: Some of my RIC photos

Thanks for the compliments! Is the fade on that fireglo really as abrupt as it seems? There appears to be no transition at all Here's another shot, I think the lighting, and slide film I used on that, contributed to the harsh appearance of the transition. I started using negative film after the shot...

Re: Rickenbacker cases.......

I had a 620-12 in one of the modern (SKB) RIC cases, and it did seem more protective than a tolex (vintage) case, my one compliant was that you had to be extremely careful when putting the guitar in the case. The metal valence is a small fraction of an inch away from the body recess, and I nicked th...

Re: Boosting volume for solos

I'll agree on the MXR Micro Amp as well, I use it near the end of my chain for clean boost. I tried the Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster first, but returned it because the switch popped every time (I've read reviews that mention the same thing).

Re: Polishing walnut guitars

I don't know about all of the brands that have been mentioned in this thread, but not all products labeled as "Tung Oil", are pure oil. Many "Tung Oil" products (specifically Homer Formby, and Minwax) are actually "wiping varnishes". They do contain some tung, or other ...
