... new 330k specced pots used in newer basses, since mine is before they switched to those. Anyone know if the tone is remarkably different from the 500k treble, 250k rest pots? And while I'm at it try out the new bridge and tailpiece if I can find someone that ships it to europe. Anyone tried it ...

Re: 4003S/5

RIC hasn't made any in awhile, and hasn't decided if they'll continue making them or not in the future. I've got one, and it's the best sounding passive 5-string I have. 500k pots all around and .022uF tone caps really improved the tonal clarity.

... tonally. I guess I was looking to get the harness back to stock specs with a few tweaks. I've wired harnesses in the past with 250k volumes and 500k tones which I liked. I actually have a harness in another Ric that I wired mono and used 250k linear pots for the volume. Not sure that the linear ...

... parts with those from new CTS pots while keeping the original casings and shafts. However, it seems the values of these original pots are 500k all around. Typically I would have the volumes at 250k, so I'm not exactly sure what I to do here. In terms of caps, I'll be using PIO .047s with ...

Run the leads into the bridge pickup route to a 500K volume pot and depending on your circumstances maybe a treble bleed. I go into a boost pedal at the pedalboard. Probably a couple weeks out yet. ...

Re: 4003 pot upgrade

I ordered some 500K solid-shaft pots from one supplier and three XGP 330K solid-shaft pots from Guitar Fetish. This will be the quickest way to make a change and figure out where to next. Taking a punt, since it seems there are no other supplies or reccommendations thereof.

Re: 4003 pot upgrade

Thanks guys, love the info. Nuts and bolts, this 4003 should have true 330K pots all round. Since I already have a 500K treble tone, I will go with a 500K bass tone pot. I will replace the volumes with actual 330K. This will bring the bass back to what it *should* have been from ...
