Re: Which pre-amp/DI stomp box do you use with your Ric bass?

I have a SanaAmp Programmable Bass Driver DI and love it. With three programmable channels, you can't go wrong. I personally believe you can't go wrong with anything SanAmp.

Re: What is this "flat neck" business for Ric basses?

I'm assuming that you have played this through the amp and this is where you are hearing this noise you don't like. Have you ever had a professional set-up by someone who know how to work on a Rickenbacker? Regardless, it's your bass and your style of playing, you do you. There is nothing that says ...

Re: What is this "flat neck" business for Ric basses?

If I understand your question, the strings should be set to pitch and then the neck set to flat. Older basses are positioned first and then the nut tightened to retain the position. Yes, little to no relief.

Link isn't working... "Sorry, this page isn't available. The link you followed may be broken, or the page may have been removed. Go back to Instagram." are we talking the XC models? These were released as a 90th anniversary models. XC is Roman numeral for 90. There is a 4005XC and a 480XC,...

Re: Push pull true bypass tone pot for bass?

I agree with what Ashgrey said. Dane is a huge source for Rics. I have his harness in my 74 4001 and it has a cap bypass built into it. I also have a harness from him in my 4004C with bypasses to tap the coils on the HB pickups. This may not be what you are looking for here but I guarantee he would ...

I think a trip to a luthier might be in order. Explain the issue and see what they can offer up.... all you need is cash!

Re: Sourcing pickups

What Dirk said... 250 vs 300.. would depend on what you were going for. Dane know his harnesses/wires. I have two of his wirings in my basses. A replacement for my 4001 (with push/pull for cap by-pass) and a customization for my 4004C. I'd highly recommend him. He does a great job at a decent price.

Re: 4003s or 4004 and why.

I have four Ric's. None of them are stock. My '74 4001 is my favorite bass hands down, but we aren't talking about the 4001 here. So that leaves my 4003s5ov (Original Version 5string) and my two 4004's. The 4003s5 (2000) was made stereo and plays, looks, sounds and records wonderfully. Weight wise i...
