Re: Recommend a 4003 replacement nut please

Zero Glide may make a really good replacement nut, but its price makes RIC's $3.95 shipping charge seem like a bargain.

Re: 4003s or 4004 and why.

Here's a question: Will the current reissue neck toaster fit in the 4004? Or is the cavity too shallow for the alnico magnets that stick outta the back? Will the bridge reissue neck toaster fit? Only reason I ask is that if I find the HB1's too dark and would want to throw toasters in it. I think t...

Re: Can 4003 truss rds be totally loosened and then rotated in the channel before re setting the relief?

I bought these in black when I blacked out my 4003S/5. The thread is a little different than the RIC p/g screws, but they went in nice and snug with no problem. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KS1TBGH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 They're metric. I'm thinking that RIC use...

Re: How do you point your knobs?

I like the indicators to point towards me when they are full on. That way I can see them easier, especially whenever I'm playing on a dark stage.
The neck pickup volume control is backed off a bit and the rest are full on in the photo.

I’m missing a pickguard screw. They don’t sell them at the boutique. Anyone know where to get them? I bought these in black when I blacked out my 4003S/5. Re: It’s 2022. Which flatwounds are you using?

Just like these. :) Like on your Snowglo...yeah, I guess so. I still have the set Jdog sent to me a long time ago. I had them on my 4001S for a while. Besides being too loose I missed the sound of roundwounds on that Rick. Maybe I'll give them a go again on a different Rick. Try them on your 4005. ...

Re: Satin finishes?

I doubt the neck of a satin finish Rickenbacker would be less stable than if it had a glo finish. Just less grabby, one would imagine I grew up playing instruments with high gloss finished necks, doesn't bother me much. That's the way I got used to playing them. Besides, a high gloss finish can be ...

Re: 4003s or 4004 and why.

I really can't pick a favorite. I do have 4001S models, but not a 4 string 4003S. I do have 4003's and both versions of the 4003S/5. The 4003S looks classic, and the 4004 looks modern, clean. The 4004 is lighter, which makes it great for long sets and gigs, especially for people with back and/or sho...

Thanks! It is the result of a chronic syndrome for which I seek no treatment.
Mrs. rickenbrother has no problem with that, apparently!
Oh come on now, you know Mrs. Rickenbrother threw away the meds.

Re: It’s 2022. Which flatwounds are you using?

Besides the string I mentioned in my previous post, I did have a set of La Bella Low Tension Flats on my 4001S when I was in a British Invasion tribute band. Nothing better than those for old school thump. I wouldn't say the tension was all that low. Just a little less tension than most sets of flat...
