Re: New 4003/4003S Neck Profile
If I didn't have my V63, I'd probably get one. Glad to read you still have yours; I thought you had sold it. Is it the MG from yonder year? Jeff---MG-4001V63-.jpg That one has moved on (twice!). I have a '90 FG qdxcv5iccylt19b262ph.jpg I know that John Allgaier had the MG one for a while. Your curr...

Re: New 4003/4003S Neck Profile
53167223341_5104af9e55_o.jpegI purchased 2 new Rics end of 2023, an Autumnglo 4003 checkered binding satin finish, the neck profile is a flat D shape and is so skinny, the best Rickenbacker I have owned for playability, the satin fretboard and rear of the neck are incredible, sounds fantastic, was ...

Re: Odd duck 4001FL on the way!
It's amazing how instruments that seem to be nearly identical can be so different. Truth! The neck pickup is clear and blooming... Those older toasters are amazing sounding. :D If I start playing out again it's gonna be fretless with a backup security blanket fretted for the first couple gigs... Oh...

Re: Is it happening? A new 4005?!
4005s_2385_med .jpg Probably a silly question, but what's up with the guard on the bass 2nd from the left? That was my bass - as I recall, there was a crack running between the pickups and the large pickguard was covering it up. Note that in the photo, it is also fretless. Dale fixed it up and it w...

Re: Is it happening? A new 4005?!
I don't know; most likely something that owner wanted for whatever reason, or he had gotten the bass already with that pickguard on it.

Re: Is it happening? A new 4005?!
"The pickups are in the less than ideal space, and the pickguard looks awkward. . . ." Wow. Complaints already. Like, knock off with the negative waves, man. Some people have been clamoring for the return of this model. Probably not many, but let's allow them their opportunity to be satis...

Re: Odd duck 4001FL on the way!
... The new tuners are chrome vs the nickle of the originals. I’ll see if some muriatic acid will take the chrome off and closer match the nickle. ... Not sure, but you might need an oxidizing acid (sulfuric or nitric) to remove it ... "Damn it Jim, I'm an organic chemist, not an inorganic che...
