Re: PAUL WILCZYNSKI RETURNS
Jeez! You'd think Italy would be happy to get back one of their own cars built to better emissions and crash standards. This makes me wonder if it wouldn't be better to just sell your car domestically, then just buy another one once you're in country.

Re: Looking for 325c58 Electronic Diagram/Manual
All 4 pot Rickenbacker instruments with mono output jacks are wired the same, except for the C58 guitars which have the tone controls wired backwards. All 3 pickup RIC guitars run the neck and middle pickups in parallel through the neck pickup tone and volume controls.

There is no phase cancellation when the vintage tone circuit is engaged.

Re: NGD 4003 Montezuma Amberglo
I think he (Dane) made one for someone where the same jack hole could be stereo or mono. Tlak to the man. He knows what he is doing and has good ideas! The extra wiring involved with Rick-O-Sound isn't taking away any "guts or punch". However, for those that want that feature on a bass wi...

Re: 4005xc production numbers?
It's a tad neck divey, so I think an XC as long scale would be a mess. Yes, if you kept the bridge where it is, and lengthened the neck. If the bridge were moved back instead (and there's plenty of room to do so) the neck would keep its current length while losing 3 or 4 frets. I'd personally like ...

Re: 4005xc production numbers?
it is likely that in the end the 4005XC production will outnumber the figures of the original 4005 due to the higher visibility that the modern marketing provides however, its price is outrageous and unjustified in my opinion The actual price that many I know are actually paying is closer to $4k. T...

Re: HiGain Magnet swap between bridge and neck
Your bridge pickup is not original. The poles on RIC hi-gains are so much further apart on a guitar bridge pickup that the outer poles nearly touch the outer edges of the pickup bezel.

Re: Best aftermarket Toasters?
Since you're getting the hi gain style anyway, why not just have your stock hi gains unwound to 8k? This will give your pickups a much clearer tone closer to a Toaster without buying new pickups.

Re: Incoming 4003s
Since the lead wires on RIC hi-gain bridge pickups are so fragile, I like to use super glue to glue the lead wire to the back of the plastic base plate right where the shielding starts. This will act as a strain relief to keep the wire from breaking off, which often happens after you've taken the pi...

Re: What happens if I don't use a capacitor?
I have a couple of two pickup, two pot basses. Since the V/T arrangement has the dreaded mid scoop that I loath, I have them wired with a volume control for each pickup. Although not as versatile, the unfiltered, wide open tone of most basses is better for rock music anyway. For a bit more versatili...

Re: HiGain Magnet swap between bridge and neck
The pole spacing is wider on the bridge pickup, so swapping the two isn't really the solution. Have someone unwind the neck pickup to 7k like the bridge. While you could try 1meg pots and a .01uF tone cap, this is really just a bandaid solution.

Re: What happens if I don't use a capacitor?
Although the tone pot will be maxed out at it's rated spec when the tone pot is wide open, since the tone cap is not a straight piece of wire, it's value will absolutely affect the tone. There are videos on YouTube that demonstrate this.
