The most aggressive sounding pickups (in a good way) on any Rick bass I've owned were HB-2s on my old 2030GF.

Re: Reverb Sighting - Could this be a neck-Thru 4000?
That’s also a great story! But the main thing I take from it Jeff is that you saw Genesis in 1973…I’m not prone to jealousy but in this case I’ll make an exception! Pure chance, it was. They were touring the Foxtrot album (something I learned after going to the record store to seek ...

Re: Reverb Sighting - Could this be a neck-Thru 4000?
Story of my I made that “should have bought it” mistake with a 60s MG4005 at A1 Manchester going for £699. It was identical to The Ox Tommy bass. I was buying a 12string acoustic that day. When I got home I decided I should take the acoustic back and buy the 4005..of course it had gone. Guess who b...

Re: '64' RM199 rebuild continued, detective work.... (seeking 64 jack plate).
...Also theres footage of Mike Rutherfords RM showing some customisation on the pickup outputs with a jack on the pickguard..maybe he had another jack added to the body instead. When I bought my 4005WB in 1973 it already had a jack installed in place of the fifth knob; it's a ROS jack. 4005WB Studi...

Re: Good Speaker Reconing Shop
I don't know of a shop for you to get the speaker re-coned, but here is something to consider. I used to have an early '70s Princeton Reverb amp several years ago that I bought from a friend. She had the amp for a few decades before selling (actually, it was a trade) to me. Someone previous to her o...

Re: Why do RICs click? RIC Newbie
(I read somewhere that a bassist for the Bee Gees did this live; the paint eventually wore thin on the horn and he repainted his Rick white as a result). A long time member of this forum owns that bass. Though, I haven't seen him post in a long time. As to the OP's question: your Rick is made almos...

Re: Rickenbacker 370WB wiring?
To give you an example, when plugged in to the "Standard" jack, when the pickup selector is in the "down" position and I have the Treble Volume knob turned fully counter-clockwise (totally off) and the Bass Volume knob turned fully clockwise (totally on), I get no sound. Sounds ...

... and tuning it up three frets to G-D-Bb-F-C-G, as if you took a regular guitar and played it capo'ed at the 3rd fret. ... Ummm ... by my reckoning, a guitar in standard tuning, capoed at the third fret, would be voiced as G-C-F-Bb-D-G .... as I missing something here? Some folks do things...

Re: 4005 Gig bag or case
...the RM3261 I had (and sold to Getty) had a custom-made case, which may have been by Ameritage, but I don't know for sure. It was a really good fit for it. Is it in the Malibu museum, or the one near the top of the 405 pass? As in, "... Drove my Chevy to the Getty ..."???? :) ...
