Re: Fingerboard finish developed defect

There are two Rick web sites, each having unique strengths. Many of us visit both routinely. For a technical concern like yours, you might want to post your question over at the RIC website, where Mr. John Hall may chime in with some facts and advice. As an introduction to the site, here are the res...

Re: Dumb truss rods question

Start here, page 5: http://www.rickenbacker.com/pdfs/manual.pdf Since you have too much relief (an "under bow"), turn the truss rod adjustment nuts clockwise/tighten, as noted in the manual. Turn both to the same degree of "tightness" (one nut may already be more loose than the o...

Re: bent truss rod nuts on old 4001, how to get rods out?

I found it difficult and somewhat frustrating to remove the truss rods on my RM 1996, and I can’t imagine how hard removing stubborn bass rods would be. But I offer my experience on a couple of minor points that might make things go a little safer and/or easier. Tapping rods: I experimented and foun...

Re: 1964 Rickenbacker

No, your guitar has not been painted. Do not clean, or do anything to it other than keep it in its case in a safe, controlled physical and thermal environment. It's not the Shroud of Turin. It's an instrument, a tool for making music (albeit a valuable tool). Clean it (the correct way), string it, ...

Re: 1964 Rickenbacker

After all my poking around the internet looking at 1996 models, this one looks (the shade of Fireglo) somewhat different/lighter -- could very well be a 325 (U.S. model). Yeah, RIC (Rickenbacker International Corp.) will know for sure. Perhaps you should post the same question there. Mr. John Hall i...

Re: Bigsby B5 on Rose Morris (2006) model 1996 AFG reissue?

Thanks. I was sort of focusing on the Bigsby installation feasibility because it seems that nearly all Bigsbys seem to be limited to the '58 & '59 models (as they are designed, of course). Somewhere I thought I read that the '58 was a solid body, and thought that the '59 could be the same. This,...

Re: Bigsby B5 on Rose Morris (2006) model 1996 AFG reissue?

Thanks. I'll give it some time before I start making out-of-state inquiries. The experimenting would be limited to me simply placing/centering the Bigsby on the face of the guitar (protecting the surface) and using a piece if dental floss (as a very flexible "string") to evaluate the break...

Re: Bigsby B5 on Rose Morris (2006) model 1996 AFG reissue?

Thanks for the reply. No..., no warranty period for this -- I bought it used, one of those "buyer beware" deals except that I was far too ignorant back then to realize the problems; again, they weren't real obvious. I learned a lot (an expensive education), and had I not experienced this s...

Bigsby B5 on Rose Morris (2006) model 1996 AFG reissue?

I have a Model 1996 AFG (2006 reissue) that has some problems. One is that the strings are simply too high to be adjusted, i.e., I have to raise the bridge at max just to have the saddles touch the strings. Of course, in this case there is no way to lower the action across the fret board. I've consi...
