1966 F HOLE 4005 Bass?

Post by holyg »

I own a 1965/67 4005 Rick hollow body bass that has a F hole instead of the cats eye slit. I believe it is a S model that was shipped to Europe. Does anyone know anything about this style bass bass? How many were produced? Thanks HolyG

I forget the Rose-Morris number assigned to this bass. Paul Boyer's book about the Rickenbacker bass has a short section on it. Some went to England and some to Italy, if I remember correctly. Production totals are difficult to gauge accurately. Smith's Rickenbacker book has been shown to be wrong in the totals he counted.

Can somebody intervene and consolidate the 5+ threads we have on this same exact bass? The OP has gone MIA anyways... :?

We can consolidate threads Colin but this is not always desirable as it typically interferes with the uniqueness of the separate conversations. Each thread, understandably, has its own unique context.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

I'd say that half (or more) of these threads could be deleted with nothing lost from the conversation. Including this one..
