Rickenbacker 360/12 C63 - Protoype - Britich Racing Green

Post by holty »

Looks like Tim at SoundAffects has something interesting on its way to Ormskirk here in the UK!

Yes - I too have been waiting patiently for pictures of this to show up on the website.

The 620 12 that RIC did in British Racing Green in early 2014 was lovely.

I do hope this becomes a finish option - perhaps to replace Ruby.

I would order a 660 in this finish if I could.

I would love a 6 string version of that 360! My new Mustang is painted a close color and it would be cool to have a guitar to match.

Photos now up on the eBay UK listing:

At an asking price of approx $7,250, this is very expensive paint!

Good lord. That's expensive.

More than twice the price of a normal color C63! You could have one painted BRG and have about $3k to spare. That's what I'd do anyway.

Amen to that!

For that price I'd rather have someone build me two custom instruments ... or three, depending on the shop.
I bought a used RIC and had it "restored" -- meaning completely refinished, new hardware, electronics, etc. -- and after it was all said-and-done: it wasn't even half the asking price of this instrument.

Premium pricing for provenance...

Nice color though.

WHEW! Even the original low-drag paint that the RAF recommended to Jaguar when developing the racing C-types and D-types didn't cost that much, even in today's money!

I totally agree. I really wish RIC would make this a standard finish. 8)

Me too, LOVE that color! And I believe a guitar in that finish would easily beat a similar guitar in Fireglo, Jetglo, or Mapleglo in the standing quarter mile!

Interesting note that it has a bound soundhole...

Maybe to better off-set the dark color?
