Great guitar; however, how does one use the stereo option?
Re: 330/12c63 stereo
You need a "Y-cable" or a "Rick-o-Sound" box to split the signal.
I assume you mean 360/12c63? a 330/12c63 does not exist.

Re: 330/12c63 stereo
It's actually dual mono, just like Harrison's. Not nearly as useful as Rick-o-sound, but definitely vintage-accurate.
Most deluxe Ricks have two jacks, and on most other models with that feature, one is mono, and one is stereo, requiring the ROS box like Collin pointed out. Both are not used at the same time.
Interesting note... some early v64's had mono/ROS. My old '87 FG (which Jake recently sold) had that.

Ah, you learn something every day. Never knew the C63 (or Harrison's 360/12) were dual-mono!
With dual-mono you can just plug the guitar into two different amps directly

Thank you all!
Re: 330/12c63 stereo
Yep, and you get the same signal out of both jacks. Kind of useless, if you ask me. Glad the company quickly innovated the stereo output shortly thereafter.

Well it solved my problem of only being able to plug into one Marshall stack at a time. Bring on the ROCK!

The RIck-O-Sound (ROS) 2nd jack stereo option was introduced in mid-1960. Many of the 360-series ("deluxe") Capris from that era have ROS and all the regular production deluxe 6-strings from 1961 to present have it. So do the regular production deluxe 12-strings from 1965 to present.jdogric12 wrote: Glad the company quickly innovated the stereo output shortly thereafter.
Why RIC didn't include ROS on the original GH 360/12-string is a mystery. I suppose for the sake of faithfulness to the original, the V64 and C63 360/12 reissues don't have ROS (though there have been reports of an occasional V64 outlier that does).

How do we know that Harrison's '63 was dual mono? I've forgotten.....
Re: 330/12c63 stereo
Good point... wasn't there a good photo series done of it in the last few years? Could that shed any light?jwilli wrote:How do we know that Harrison's '63 was dual mono? I've forgotten.....

Re: 330/12c63 stereo
Wow! So now we have a whole new question... why were V64's made dual mono?

Some good pics of Harrison's '63 in this thread, Grammy Museum appearance in 2011:jdogric12 wrote:Good point... wasn't there a good photo series done of it in the last few years? Could that shed any light?jwilli wrote:How do we know that Harrison's '63 was dual mono? I've forgotten.....

The one photo I found of the jackplate (partial) in this thread appears to have the Ric-O-Sound lettering, not entirely clear on that. But as I recall it was explained by someone who knew what they were talking about (not me) that the Harrison '63 was actually wired with dual mono output jacks. If not, then why are the V64s and C63s wired dual mono?
