8 Pole Horseshoe Pickup

Post by pippsaxe »

Hi! Does anyone know if Rickenbacker ever made an 8 Pole pickup for their lap steels with 8 strings? Or did they just use 6 or 7 pole pickups?

Thanks!

Yes. My 768 has two 8 pole horseshoe pickups and a 10 pole...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Cool. Thanks for responding. I have a B8 Electro from around 1940. 8 String, but has a 7 pole pickup that LOOKS original to the guitar. I know they were doing some weird things around this time with these models, like using the 6-string body for their 7 and 8 string models, too, but I'm not sure if the same applies to the pickups.. Any idea?

Paul, my 8-String Ric Console Steel from 1961 also has eight pole pieces in the original Horseshoe.
