Capping a "hot" toaster
1)Will adding in the ".0047" (decimals right?) to a bridge "hot"toaster do anything noticeable, or is it really only for the vintage toasters. If not, anybody want to swap me a decent 7.4 toaster and cap for a perfectly good April of 1994 11k?
2)Will a neck "hot" toaster be OK with a bridge vintage toaster w/o electrical problems?
Happy almost Spring, and by the way YOUTUBE the 70s Brit band Starry Eyed and Laughing "Going Down-First CBS session" if you haven't already. pre-Jangle box chimefor days!

Re: Capping a "hot" toaster
The only thing the cap does is cut off the bass frequencies, and it will do that in combination with any pickup.
The hot neck will be way louder than the 7.4 k at the bridge.
The other way around, hot bridge, 7.4 neck will be better in balance, and will render more sound possibilities.
For a six string a 7.4 toaster at the bridge can sound s bit thin.

Re: Capping a "hot" toaster
My ‘65 360 OS has the stock 7.x ohm at the neck, and a “hot toaster” at the bridge, with a .0047mf cap. It’s a cool blend and makes the bridge sound honk-ey, sorta kinda like a P90.

Now, Kenny,THAT'S a new RIC adjective for me.
Kind of like the "Honk-eys of Rhimney"? A hot toaster "P 90ed" with a cap sounds interesting.
Cheers all

Just to protect Kenny here:
One of the dictionary definitions of "honk" (I am not making this up) is "the cry of a wild goose".
So, with regard to Rickenbackers, it IS relevant, as a... BYRD sound!

Is that why Roger McGuinn's alternate title and lyrics to "Chestnut Mare" is about a Walnut Goose?donnellbw wrote:Just to protect Kenny here:
