Just bought 360-12

Post by darbone85623 »

I owned a 360-12 back in the 60's. Sold it when I graduated from college and wasn't playing much anymore. Just bought another but don't know anything about it. It has 2 stamps on the jack plate. On top is 13 and on bottom 16747. Is this a serial # and what does it tell me about the instrument ? Thanks for any hep

It tells you that the guitar was made during the 16th week of 2013. The 747 tells you how many passengers it can carry.

Welcome Larry and congrats. Too bad you don't still have the 60's one ($$$$$), but a new one ain't bad either.

I know. I bought the old one for $10 from a neighbor/ friend who worked at a music store in NY.. years later I sold it back to him for the same $10.

I have a 1967 Gibson acoustic that sounds beautiful but the fret board seems more than twice as wide as the Rickenbacker. Playing the new guitar will likely improve my fretting and have me approach the strings in a more vertical fashion.

I play through a Fender tweed Blues Jr and it sounds brilliant. No pedals

So far I'm happy with the "jangle" of the guitar straight into the tweed
Fender. I don't have any pedals other than a looper

I run mine straight into a blues deville. It doesn't need a janglebox either.
Through the drive channel it sounds incredible

I always ran my Ricks straight into whatever amps of the day I had, no need for any add-on devices to make them sound great.
