Rickenbacker 330 - Montezuma Brown questions

Post by bitterorca »

Hi guys, first post here after plenty of lurking!

I recently bought a used 330 Montezuma Brown after years of looking, and it's by far my favourite guitar that I've ever bought. It's beautifully made and the hi-gains are stunning. I've dated it as being built on week 1 of 2014, but it appears that that was only the COTY from '03 to '04. Can anyone shed any light on how this one slipped through? Or have I mixed up the dating somehow?

Also the fretboard is beautiful - Would that be Caribbean Rosewood? It's really light and streaky, not like any rosewood I've seen before.

Pictures attached!

IIRC I think Japan got some as a special order.

Welcome! Beautiful guitar, Ryan.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm
