Fireglo - brown v red

I am a big fan of the darker more sunburst brown fireglo as opposed to the bright red that sees predominant and more common now. looking around used Rickenbacker 330s on Reverb and I’m noticing every older Rick with the more dark and sunburst fireglo seem to be located outside of the USA. Is that a coincidence? Is there a particular era of rick 330 with a more sunburst fireglo?

Here’s an example of what I mean.

Don't know. However, I'd be really careful trying to judge the color or shading particulars of any Fireglow finish from photos, especially on-line photos. A lot of them look substantially different when you see the guitar in real life.

If it's brown it's not FG. Autumnglo, Walnut, Montezuma Brown, and other recent browns are not Fireglo, are they?

However, remember the "Take The Fireglos" pictures I took and posted?

IMO, being that this is a group picture, the colors relative to each other are valid gradations of the Fireglo finish over the years.

FWIW, there was an earlier thread also on the subject of "darker Fireglo":

What I think is really interesting is that late 50's Two Tone Brown today looks like FG.

I have a 360/12V64 from 1987 that has a similar "dark Fireglo" finish.

Not the best photo, but you get the idea -- it's not as dark in person, but it's dark!
