Pete Townsend with strange Ric in MOJO

Post by ashcaster »

Has anyone seen the new MOJO? There are several pics in there of Townsend playing a variety of Rics, but there's one small B&W picture of him playing one of the oddest Rics I've ever seen. Kinda looks like a 335 body with a Ric slash f-hole, block inlays on the fretboard, a strange non-Ric trapeze tailpiece and a Gibson-like pickguard. Don't have the issue in front of me to get the exact page number but it's in the new one with the Who on the cover. And yes, it's definately got a Ric headstock and logo on it.

There has been a few posts about this same picture on the AGR and VOXtalks.com. Personally, I think it is a non-RIC with RIC parts.

On the voxtalks BBS, John Hall responded on Oct 9: "The guitar in the photo is obviously not a RIC, but rather a body upon which some RIC parts have been placed."

So good guess, JWilli1130!
