Help! Question about tuners on a 12-string.

Post by anon »

Can someone help with this question. I think that the 12-strings had 6 tuners mounted on the back of the headstock and 6 mounted on the sides at a 90 degree angle into the slot on the headstock, right? My question is are all 12 tuning machines the same size, or are there two different sizes for the rear-mounted six and the side-mounted six? Is the post that the string wraps around longer on the side-mounted tuners? I am modifying an old 6-string to a 12-string and I want to set up the headstock Ric-style. PS. I am NOT modifying a Rickenbacker--mutilating such an expensive guitar would be a crime.

Well, I think I can answer part of your question, if I understand it correctly. If you are Only referring to a Rick 12 string, then All Twelve
tuners are the same, except that the ones mounted on the edges of the headstock pointing backwards,
are installed Without any tuner post bushings
or hex head threaded bushings.Otherwise, they would all be identical.
