Rickenbacker EK-O-Tone A-11 (what is this?)
Saw this on Ebay a week or so ago. Someone won the auction with a price of $384. What exactly is it?
" Sold as is. Non working for project or parts. Pictures show condition. Needs to be cleaned and some tolex needs to be re glued.
This is a tube one. Has 2 preamp tubes. Made by Tel-Ray ADINEKO for Rickenbacker in the 60s I'm almost sure. This one did work for about 5 minutes and then stopped. I am not a tech and will not take this apart so please bid according to what you know. These are supposed to be easy to work on."

Probably an oil can delay. Here's another Tel-Ray Adineko.
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

It's an oil can delay, John.
I offered the seller $500 at the beginning of the auction...he said he wanted it to run its course.
It did.

Yeah, and grumpy, too.

I thought it was weird that no one had brought this auction up, lol. Had I not forgotten about it, I would have probably driven the final price up....not on purpose..of course.

There was an issue--it was non-functional, but there's an Oilcan Forum with repair tips. My guess would be new oil.

A very cool, rare piece no doubt. I think I am nearing an oil can echo unit infatuation.........

I've heard that the best modern replacement for that oil is... windex!

I usually just slap in a new can of Starkist. Gives ya that real bubbly deep sea echo among other benifits. If your tour bus happens to strand you between Baker and Barstow, you can always make a cactus and tuna sandwich. Has anyone tried to get a Starkist endorsement? Might be worth looking into.

I tried that, and the darned thing just kept saying, "Sorry, Charlie", over and over again.
Great echo, though.

The dolphin people are already planning a boycott.
