Lastest Acquisition

Post by rickenbrother »

Not a Rick, not even anything to do with music.
She's a tiny ball of fur, a 4 week old kitten. I've never had a cat this young before! So small, I was a little nervous at first.
She's so tiny, about the size of a Rick guitar headstock I can hold her in one hand. I got her from my nephew who found her abandoned by their mother, with a litter of her siblings. Each of his friends that was with him, took one.
My nephew couldn't keep her because my niece (his sister) is allergic to cats and they have 2 rat terriers.
I'm not sure yet what type of cat she is. She checked out fine at the vet.
I figure at her young age, she'd just grow up with the parrots I have, which are a much more of a threat to her right now. She still walks wobbly.
If it doesn't work out with the birds,I'm sure it would be no problem to give her to another loving home. She's really really sweet kitten.
Gotta give her a cool name...

I have adopted my first cat recently. She is 15 years old and of course fully housebroken.

I'd love to replace her when she's gone with a kitten like that buy wonder how difficult it will be to teach it to go to the litter box.

Is that a difficult thing involving lots of clean ups?

My current cat vomited very close to my 4001 once! (which was lying on the floor)

This kitten is much too small for a litter box, so we're using a plastic container with kitty litter that's a good size and easy for her to climb in and out of. She's using it already. I guess they learn fast.
I hope her eyes stay that blue color!

Very cute! We've taken care of kittens that small and smaller, had to bottle feed some of 'em. Yes, it's amazing how fast they learn the litter box, and how fast they grow! As for the eye color, hard to say. That's the typical kitten blue and probably won't stay that color. They may end up blue though, but on cats that color, blue is pretty rare...

I think she'll be fine with the birds. She'll grow up with a healthy respect for them, and besides, I bet they can handle themselves just fine in any case ...

I'd call her Suzie Q. 8)

I get so very attached to my critters. Pets are one of life's greatest blessings, but also a big responsibility - cats less so than dogs, being more independent by nature.

Congrats on your new arrival! :)

Cute kitty, Joey. The best cat I ever had was a tortoiseshell longhair that I named "Byrd." She adopted me when she was a stray and already about 6 months old. She looked a lot like your little one does. Byrd had big gold/green eyes that made her look like an owl. Here's a pic when she was in her "prime" (a.k.a. fat and lazy).

Those full tortie cats usually have very gentle souls and should be fine around other animals.
Now the ones with more black and white patches on them can be bonkers..
Its funny how a cats coat can often dictate its personality....

Thanks guys. Here she is on her bed near her favorite toy, which is almost as big as she is.
Eden, I hope you're right about her being a gentle soul around other animals whan she's an adult cat.
