Mako is gone

Post by analogpackrat »

Last weekend I lost my little buddy after almost 20 years. I got her for $5 at a yard sale in Chico, CA back in July 1993. She was a good companion and I miss her very much.

Here she is sleeping a few weeks after I got her:

And here she a few years ago at age 17...her eyes went from gold to green when she was about 6 months old.

My sincere condolences, Doug. It's hard to say goodbye to our dear little ones, but I'm sure you'll be meeting up with her later. :)

So sorry for your loss, Doug. :(

My 18 year old cat Elsie passed a few months ago -- she (and her sister Emma) was my family when no humans wanted to be.

When I remarried she partially accepted my wife as "staff". :)
Watch those teeth, Marlin. I'm not sure we've properly sedated the beast . . .

Sorry to hear of this. Twenty years is a long life for a cat. RIP.

What a beautiful friendship. Everything fades from this world at some point but while Mako was here you loved her and she knew it. That's what matters. How could one ask for more? Congratulations on two decades of love and friendship, the best possible way to see your buddy off to her next adventure. :)

Hi Doug,

It's really hard on us when our little furry friends leave us. I have lost a few over the years and it never seems to get any easier. Please accept my condolences.

Thanks for all of the kind thoughts. She was a determined little soul until the end. Never underestimate the daughter of a homeless single mom (her mom was a stray that had her kittens in the back yard of the family that later had the yard sale). Matt--I know exactly what you mean. Sorry to hear about your old friend, too.
